Re: PA Sheriffs use COVID as a reason to suspend LTCF processing.
I already got my renewal notice. First time he actually sent one. Now this. It seems like a trap. The exception was for an honest mistake. The sheriff is in no position to grant extension periods and showing a judge this notice would prove it was done on purpose. Im not a lawyer but I hope one here will see this and let me know if im off base as I do believe its a one way ticket to prohibited status.
It does state they will be processing new applications so I guess thsy will grudgingly take renewals. I should have gotten there today but this threw me a curve. Hopefully I'll still be able to on monday.
The legislature needs to address this. It could be done renewals that is online with a cellphone picture. The Gun is the Badge of a Free Man

Potter county just suspended license issuing.
Do your fucking job!
They can still receive apps, process, and schedule appointments to have the picture and license issued with complete safety.......if they wanted to be bothered!

Re: PA Sheriffs use COVID as a reason to suspend LTCF processing.
PSP issued a statement that in summary said "Technology challenges and a surge in requests resulted in PICS twice going offline on March 17, 2020. An isolated server issue for a morning outage from 8 am to 11:30 am and then another outage due to a backlog of requests from 5 pm to 8:40 pm. They are working with a vendor to increase processing power and will adjust staffing to meet demand. Despite the downtime, PICS completed 4,342 transactions as compared to 1,359 on the corresponding Tuesday in March 2019. Contrary to rumors on Social Media, PICS is and will remain operation during the COVID-19 epidemic."
So almost 3,000 more PICS checks than a normal day.

Please remember these closures when you speak with your rep on lobby day in June. In addition to freeing up sheriff's manpower, this is just another reason to change PA to constitutional carry.

Re: PA Sheriffs use COVID as a reason to suspend LTCF processing.
Ugh my LTCF expires on April 10th. I called the Sheriff's office here in Harrisburg before reading the thread. I'm required by law and work to have my LTCF, being that I'm an armed security officer.
