Handmade Grip Panels
I got a hold of some scrap wood at work that happened to be some kind of oak, and I decided to make my own grip panels for my Star BM. A friend's dad "sliced" the 2x4 for me with a table saw, and I used a drill for the screw holes, but everything else was done with basic hand tools and lots of sanding.

Re: Handmade Grip Panels
Nice job. They look great!
What did you use to finish them?

Re: Handmade Grip Panels
Look great. Any idea how many hours you have into the project? Every time I have done something like that I wished it would have timed the effort. Never did though. Always thought of it after the fact.

Re: Handmade Grip Panels
Looks like a good fit.
Good work.
I just made a shelf for the wife out of white oak. Stuff was hard to work with, particularly drilling, screwing and nailing. I probably won't use that wood again. She's getting pine from now on.
Also weighed a ton when finished.Galations 6:9...And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Re: Handmade Grip Panels
Just sprayed them with krylon "clear glaze" high gloss polyurethane from wal mart.
I didn't time it unfortunately, but I completed them over the course of two weeks, messing with them here and there after work.
I ran into a bit of trouble with the screw holes. Drilled the recessed hole a little too deep and had to fill it in partially with makeshift wood putty(glue and sawdust), and then the other panel, I made them a milimeter or two too close and had to expand them a bit, so they look kinda rough on the right panel.
Next set I do, I wanna do a bullet casing inlay in the center of each grip.Last edited by DerpSchnitzel; March 4th, 2020 at 03:16 PM.
