Default question about a show i was watching last night

well, it's not really about a show, more like the people within the show.

So i was watching discovery health and they had on these SUPER obease people, like 700 lbs +. and a question came into my head... don't know why it did, but it just popped up there. If i were to take my sigma 9mm and shoot this person in the abdomen somewhere from 10 yards or greater, would it penetrate through to a vital organ? or would it hit so much fat that it would only be a flesh wound?

Now this is not making fun of fat people, cause i'm overweight as well... but it's a SERIOUS question. How much fat/skin would a 9mm bullet penetrate through? Is there such a test out there? and do you think a 700 lb plus man could take a 9mm bullet in the abdomen and just walk away with a minor flesh wound?

With that said, I bet steel core or maybe regular jacketed ball ammo would penetrate better than a hollow point.

Unless they are armed, a 700+lbs person would NOT be able to catch up to you if you retreat. Therefore, I believe that the proper course of action would be to run away.

Also, when you deal with such size and mass, gravitational forces must be taken into account.

One only needs to look at statistics about bullet penetration into ballistic gel to get an idea about the stopping power of pure fat.

run away? why waste the effort
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.

Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

    good point...
I'm sure some one will come along with the FBI statistics on how many inches of flesh different calibers and bullets will travel through...
Word to the wise a 700lb man prolly wont be moving on his own...so remember the real threat is the dude pushing the dolly...eliminate the mode of transport you eliminate the threat.....
