How do their prices compare to Aldi? I've been hitting Aldi hard lately. I just ran in at lunchtime today and bought 3 dozen cans of their Beefaroni/Spaghettios type stuff for the kids' lunches. Just about cleaned them out.

I'm going to spend the weekend stocking up on some more food. I think the run on food could start pretty soon.

Don't know, I was only in Aldi's once, and the smell of rotten fruit turned me off so I never went back.

FYI, hand sanitizer is going, going, gone. I bought 1 gal in bulk and 2 different brands of 8 oz. bottles from Amazon less than a week ago. All are now sold out.

You should also bulk up on these to carry in your car to wipe down fecal matter caked shopping carts, etc, regardless of Corona.

Just surfing over at SB and found this post.

Also keep in mind most food kits way over claim on how many days they are for. The one swamppappa linked to claims to be 40 days, nowhere does it say how many calories per day so that is a warning flag.

I added up all the dry goods in it, it comes out to about 29 pounds. Most dry goods tend to have about 1600 calories per pound. 29 pounds times 1600 calories is 46,400 calories. Divide that by the 40 days they claim it is for and it gets you 1,260 calories per day. That is on par with what a prisoner in a holocaust concentration camp got.

Most kits way over claim like that I am just using this one as an example because it was linked to and you had considered it.

I would suggest buying individual bags of dried goods and cans of canned goods that meet your wants. From there learn to preserve other foods through canning, or dehydrating. Buying bulk grains can be a way to get a good jump on things.

A 1 year supply of dried goods for one person at 3000 calories per day should fill 2 55 gallon barrels and weight about 700-800 pounds. Canned goods take more space. So if you see a one year kit that fits in a couple buckets you can be sure they are lying to you.

When buying food for storage make sure you keep in mind the calorie count not the serving numbers. As an example a can of green beans may claim 5 servings but the entire can only has 75 calories.

    I considered it helpful information.

One positive thing about COVID-19 is it kicked me in the ass to stock up on some items I've been falling behind on a bit.

Just remember boys and girls, the word of the day is Op-Sec, here's someone that will explain it to you:

Apparently it also involves going on TV using your real name, and telling everyone about the truckloads of food being delivered to your easily found address at night.

That's right, I don't need my own if I know where to go and get it.

I'm working in health and beauty today and I took a pic of the hand sanitizer shelf.
Most all the large containers are gone.

(I don't know how to post pics from my phone)

A bunch of people asked where the sanitizer is.
I had three people asking about masks. Out of stock.
Yesterday I saw a 60-ish couple shopping with masks on.
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!
