It worked. A decent 1.5 lb. loaf of French bread, made with no skill and no effort using a $4 machine. Not bad!

    I considered it helpful information.
the 1,200 calories was also being fed to people who didn't carry around a good spare tire of 20k calories or so.
most citizens in developed nations now could go a long time on that before we looked like we were in a concentration camp.

making bread by hand is a really good way to pass the time. always takes me hours and hours but is easy work.

last time i bought sugar i also got buckets with lids. bought 25lb sack of sugar, poured it into the buckets and sealed. i usually do the same with sacks of rice.
forgot about salt, i'll be picking up several 4lb boxes at BJs this week.
i found we've got a few lb of rice left and at least 5lb of oatmeal, there is at least another 8lb of misc. grains in our freezers.
when i placed our grocery order the other day i added about 8lb of pastas, bunch of tuna, 5lb of peanut butter., we've also got powdered milk and powdered peanut butter, 2 cases of each ramen flavor. etc...this isn't too much more than i normally buy, just doing it more frequently and/or when it isn't required.
when i used to go to aldi i'd buy their soup and ravioli cans by the flat. iirc 12 cans to a cardboard flat, i'd grab one of each flavor & spend like $30 or so on it.
the worst offender is manwich sauce, it will not hold for nearly as long as the other canned stuff and by 1.5yr past date the inner lining (BPA?) of all those acidic items is starting to wear away.
we also do a lot of canned fruit and veg.
every now and then i'll grab another 5gal jug of water but we do have about 200gal potable + 200gal nonpotable on hand at any time.

remember to get your important stuff back on analog, any recepies you might need or checklists, cheatsheets or otherwise. say you can never remember how that one spring goes back into the action of your rifle... yeah print that reference material out.

when i started making bread i was using these for reference but kind of did w/e i wanted anyway.

LOL. I used to think about that in my ultramarathon days. Handshakes and hugs at the end of a 50k or 50 mile trail race, everybody filthy, bloody, and drenched in sweat and other bodily fluids. Good times! And summer backpacking and bike camping trips. Maybe that did strengthen my immunity system. When my wife gets sick, I get a touch of it or nothing at all.

For the kids, there was nothing better than McDonalds indoor playgrounds. Those things are definitely level 4 biohazard. They should be bulldozed immediately!

Wait, what other bodily fluids besides blood and sweat?

airborn debris like dust pollen skin flakes and mites.
    essential salts
    moisture
    bacteria, molds and viruses
various odor compounds and chemicals from the environment

basically everything in cheese and then some, no wonder kids love them.

Blood, sweat, spit, snot, piss, shit, popped blisters... and clothes that get ripe from all of that plus 10+ hours of summer heat. If that doesn't help build up immunity, nothing will.

Glad it worked. Mine always turned out to be a bread brick. Make enough and I could have had a bread igloo.
