Re: Annual Harrisburg Rally - June 8, 2020 - Save the date
just a note for all the new people considering coming this year.
both this shit and caliber rants/arguments stay online, i've never once seen it brought to a rally.
although mysteriously, maybe due to ambient noise, it is kind of hard to talk at the capitol.
so like, don't worry. no one will bitch at you for coming nearly naked. or looking like sam fisher.Last edited by fallenleader; May 25th, 2020 at 10:39 AM.

Re: Annual Harrisburg Rally - June 8, 2020 - Save the date
Walleye,
We are in a fight to preserve the 2A for ourselves and our posterity.
Our fight for the 2A is only one battle in the larger war to preserve our country and our freedom.
I will stand with any person or organization that will truly help preserve our rights and our freedom.
I will especially stand with organizations like GOA and FOAC who do more to preserve the 2A in a day than most do in a lifetime.
To get sidetracked by slights and mixed messaging is counterproductive to our cause.
No one is going to care about any of these trivial things if we lose the 2A and our country to a bunch of fanatical fascist Socialists.
The value of PAFOA to the 2A is entirely dependent on our ability to work in partnership with important organizations like GOA and FOAC.
It is incumbent upon each of us to recognize the part we play in this larger effort, and to direct our energies towards our common goal of preserving the 2A.
Fighting anyone and everyone for not seeing things exactly our way is not leadership, it is hubris, and it hurts us all.
This kind of infighting in the open forum does incredible damage to our overall effort to preserve the 2A in PA.
People were upset about things, much time was diverted seeking clarification, and corrections were posted.
That should be enough for any reasonable partner in this larger effort.
Please, as a favor to me, let this go.
Please help us focus on the bigger picture of preserving the 2A, our country, and our freedom.

While I disagree with a few people here over their thoughts and so on.
I do however have to agree with them on this.
This shouldn't be something that should be "let go".
I would guess it's a starting point. "Don't bring long guns" Then years later "don't bring any guns". Almost like starting to condition people for next time. I wouldn't be surprised that any politician tries to flip flop on anything. "I like guns, not those guns, they scare people, don't bring those".
You either have all of it, or none of it.

I'll agree to let it go...until it crops up again.

Re: Annual Harrisburg Rally - June 8, 2020 - Save the date
At the risk of being accused of not letting it go, I wish to state that it is not my intent to further the division but rather, to work toward a possible solution.
Simple fact: This is Metcalfe’s rally. It’s no one else’s. We are all attending this rally at Metcalfe’s invitation. The only dress code requests that we should be accommodating are Metcalfe’s. In years past, he has requested business casual attire because the sole purpose of the rally was to lobby lawmakers in their offices. And, business casual is the standard for all groups conducting such activity in the Capitol.
Now, looking at the issue a bit deeper, it is clear to me that we have two major factions within the 2A community. We have those who primarily focus on legislation, and those who primarily focus on publically exercising our rights by OC of handguns and long-guns. Both groups are right, and both are essential to the cause.
What is missing at times is cooperation between the two.
It seems to me that if the legislation group holds an action, the OC group should do its best to dress the part as requested and provide warm bodies. Alternatively, if the OC group is hosting an event, the legislative group should also show up in total support, without complaints about dress code (or lack thereof).
Bottom line, do we have general agreement that it is the host who makes the rules for any given event and that we should either individually accommodate those rules, or simply not attend, rather than to try to force our group’s rules upon the host?
In this case Metcalfe is making no specific requests regarding OC. So, no one else really gets a say.
If an Open Carry group hosts a rally in Pittsburgh and says “OC is welcome” then no one else really has the right to demand CC, or “no rifles”. But, everyone is always encouraged to attend all events because all are critically important.
I think it starts with an understanding that we are two major groups and that each group has its reasons for their event rules, and that we should do all we can to turn out for one another’s events while accommodating the host’s requests.Last edited by longcall911; May 25th, 2020 at 12:16 PM. we are almost certainly assured that the capitol, if not closed, will still be in emergency operations limiting access to the public until july 35th... at earliest june 9th.
so we can expect that the only reps there will be the ones that literally stand with us, no?There is no way to make it out alive...

It is long past due for us to invoke Article I, Section 2 of the PA Constitution:
2. Political powers.
All power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority and instituted for their peace, safety and happiness. For the advancement of these ends they have at all times an inalienable and indefeasible right to alter, reform or abolish their government in such manner as they may think proper.
