Re: Thoughts on training?
Not much AFAIK in the northeast. You might try: https://www.rockwelltactical.com/ ..look at their Locations page.
Realistically, Palmyra PA is your nearest training hub.Last edited by dgg9; December 2nd, 2019 at 08:49 PM.

Re: Thoughts on training?
is it worth the 2+ hour trip? I am located in East Stroudsburg about 20 mins east of Stroudsburg. from what I've seen DSR isn't a bad course since they are NRA certified trainers

Re: Thoughts on training?
Depends on where your level is. You should definitely go for every local course first. Unless you're at a certain level, a weekend course plus drive aren't worth it yet.

subbing.
subject of controversy right now but there is TACS in stroudsburg and i heard there is a shoothouse in easton but i couldn't verify the source.
dingmans is great on the service end, never tried their training though. it is a nice place to be at.
i'm also looking for training and useful certifications.

Re: Thoughts on training?
I have taken my fair share of training classes. Honestly, any NRA curriculum or NRA trainers is usually a deal breaker for me. Try to find someone who is military/LEO that actually knows what they are doing.

Re: Thoughts on training?
Start with the fundamentals.
Look for courses to master pistol marksmanship, and the sub-second draw and fire.
If you do that you are better prepared than most of the guys out there, and then you can move on to more complex training.
There is not much point in doing complex training if you can't draw under pressure without shooting yourself, or hit what you're aiming at in under a second.
One on one courses with a retired trained professional are best.
As mentioned, NRA certification means little if the instructor has not been professionally trained by the police, military, or related field.
Ask who the instructor is and what his credentials are.
