The only reason I don't have a 9mm AR pistol is price.
For a whole lot less than it costs to build one, I could get an Extar.
For not a lot more, I could get a Scorpion or Stribog.

The only positive about a 9mm AR is that I can buy it one piece at a time until I have everything I need to assemble it.
That method has been working well for me. Finding $500, $600, $800 to just go buy a gun never seems to be an option.
I was not aware of this before but apparently, you can buy the CMMG radial delayed bolt and barrel kit and build an AR9 around it instead of a normal blowback bolt. I'm considering putting my 5.56 upper rebuild on hold and buying one of these. https://www.righttobear.com/Radial-D...-p/99de642.htm

Don’t we have a thread somewhere on building a 9mm AR? Want to build one up in the worst way.... TIA!
All of my guns are lubed with BACON GREASE.

These are dated and there are many more options on the market now, but here are two threads of mine on the topic. There may be others as well.

Bumping this since there are probably more people looking to build up their home defense options now.

For an affordable light, check out the Crimson Trace CWL-102 that I posted pics of.
It held up to recoil of my 7.62x39 7" AR pistol.

Go back to this post for some other links if you want to check around for pricing.

Looks decent for the price, especially since it includes pic rail, mlok and keymod mounting options.

Bumping this thread because I found a short rail section I picked up last winter when Gander was going out of business.
I attached it on a carbine on the right side (like above) and put my M3-LED light on it - it DOES work.
It's not ideal, but I CAN work the rocker switches with a slight twist of my support hand.

This tells me that if I run across a good deal in the future on an OLight or similar style "handgun light", I can consider it for this purpose.

I know it might not be in your budget, but Streamlight released new long gun optimized TLR RM series lights this year. They're basically the TLR7 and TLR9 with the rear switch replaced with a small pressure pad and switch port.

I really couldn't have asked for a better fit.
I just used the M-LOK mount and stuck both of them on the left side.
That's really the only option I have using the mounts that they came with. I could probably get offset mounts to move them up a little, but honestly, I can hit them with my thumb just fine where they are, and they aren't in the way.
The only other option would be mounting them on the right and using a pressure switch on the left, but that's just introducing more crap that I'm trying to avoid.

Maybe on a carbine, I will do things differently (or not), but for THESE guns, I'm happy with the results.

Sort of kicking myself for ordering hand stops because the lights pretty much serve in that role too.

    Bump.

So far, so good on these Crimson Trace lights.

I haven't shot the 5.56 much, but I've put enough 7.62x39 through the other one that I think if there was a problem holding up the the recoil, it would have happened by now.

I'm using an Olight Valkyrie IR dual mode white light/IR illuminator on mine

The Olight PL Valkyrie Mini 2 is also an outstanding option
