Hit the comments folks. Same old "carry at a soccer game is stupid" lines.
No one can explain why though...

    That's an "editorial", NOT "news".

Oh but THIS one has his name on it...about the lady with the purse. Of course the account is slightly different but it gets the message across. I don't believe he felt anything. They told her THREE times she was free to go on to where she was headed for the day in the courthouse...

I posted a comment.... same old crap... oooh! scary gun!

What I will NEVER understand is why its okay for them to see a police officer who is armed with a gun, taser, collapsible baton, OC spray and lord knows what else and be okay with it because they wear a uniform, but not an everyday citizen. The police are citizens who work for the rest of the people - thus the term "Civil Servant."
What's different besides the badge and uniform? Some people say training... but I know, work with, etc. a LOT of police, probation, corrections... and I can honestly say they are just as scary as anyone else out there.

    Know why?????

    They are human beings too.
"The rifle is the weapon of democracy. If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military. The hired servants of our rulers. Only the government-and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws." (Edward Abbey, "The Right to Arms," Abbey's Road [New York, 1979])
I have my rifle. Do you?

Sorry, but it is her duty to inform them about the gun, not to play hide and seek to try and find a gun.

Saying, "I have a firearm I need to check", when she approached the screening point would have been the proper thing to do. Whether the other guard actually felt the gun or not is a moot point. And the fact that she made them search it three times before finally telling them there was a firearm in there is just childish. Does she also carry knives and other prohibitted items in her carry-on to the screeners at the airport just to see if they'll find it?

    posted my comment as well:
"I must say that it's rather relieving to see the posts above in support of the free carrying of firearms or other weapons by law-abiding citizens. It's a very slippery slope we approach when we're willing to relinquish such essential liberties.

It's ironic that the same people who want the self-supplied "appearance" of safety are the same that would ask those who lawfully carry firearms to cease doing so. I suppose those same sheeple would ask that all criminals turn in their weapons as well. Hmm, will the criminals obey? I doubt it.

We're all free to express our own views on the subject; that's the beauty of the First Amendment. But remember... The First Amendment, like the rest of the Bill of Rights, is insured by those who exercise the Second.

I think a lack of experience with the checking procedure on the part of this woman, the lack of familiarity with modern concealment accessories buy the security personnel, and the typical newspaper 'slightly less than accurate' account of what happened (likely because of differing slants by those who offered 'facts' to the reporter) make this out to be a much bigger deal that it actually was.

OH these people are REALLY starting to PISS ME OFF. My comments left:

How DARE you sir! How DARE YOU! Who gives you the right to "sit on your pedestal" and call anyone that is within their rights stupid! HOW DARE YOU!

Maybe you need to take some serious lessons in OUR country, OUR rights and the men and women that fought and died for them. Maybe you need to take a good damned look at this country now, a GOOD look at the crime and a GOOD look at these people you call stupid. If you did for one damn second you might actually realize YOU are the one acting stupid, the one that thinks all is well in Oz ... but I seriously doubt you would even try, you have closed your mind to the REAL MEANING of this great nation! You have believed the lies and deceit spewed by socialists that would love nothing more than for all of us to be scared little sheep that do what we are told!

Your writing smacks of Mao, of Lennin, Of Stalin ... the worst of the worst. You should be thrown into the streets as the propagandist you are. Find a new job because you liberal socialist slant is not becoming of this great state and this great nation!
