Arrow Talking doll says..."Islam is the light"?

Talking Doll Accused Of Promoting Islam

    Wednesday, October 15, 2008 – updated: 8:06 pm EDT October 15, 2008

PITTSBURGH -- A talking doll, Little Mommy Cuddle 'n Coo by Fisher-Price, is supposed to make baby noises and cry out for its "mama."

Some parents claim that it's saying "Islam is the light," though.

After receiving complaints from customers, some shops in the country have removed the doll from shelves.

A representative for Fisher-Price insisted that the doll was not uttering pro-Islamic messages.

The sound some parents were hearing was caused by an accidental distortion of the doll's soundtrack, the representative said. The doll only says the word "mama."

Earlier, Mattel, which owns Fisher-Price, released a statement saying that "the power of suggestion" was the reason why parents were mishearing the doll.

the official statement is that the only "scripted" line they gave it was "mama"

At any rate...this is kind of stupid if you ask me, it does sound like SOMETHING is being said, but it's short of incoherent if you ask me.

It'd be much better to first play the sound and then ask people what it says. Suggestion ruins the experiment.

It sounds more like "gun light" than anything else (at least to me).

Man, I don't know, it sounds to me like I can definately here "is the light". The first word is kind of hard to tell, kind of like "isma" "iskma" and I can see how it sound also sound like "islam". Either way, I can definately make out "Islam". I'm gonna embed 2 clips, one is a story of some people who think it says "islam is the light" and another video that just replays a recording of what it's saying over and over so you can hear it. Either way, it dang sure ain't just saying mama. Kind of sounds like someone at fisher price doesn't want to own up to someone in their factory that helps program these things messing with them. This reminds me of the Elmo doll that said "Elmo kill".

I couldn't get these to embed properly, so if someone wants to help me, please do. In the mean time, here's the links.

In this one you can hear it say "mama" then it coos, and then the last thing it says is what everybody is wondering what the heck it's saying.

Seems like a worker might have done this for a joke. Or maybe the machinery malfunctioned and the audio is distorted. It happens. Poor Mattel, this is going to hit the fan for them.

People do strange things. I once bought a big chef mouse cookie jar from Macys. When I brought it home, and took it out of the box and removed the newspaper inside, it was "Screw" paper. Yup! The box was packed with porno newspaper. Actually, I thought it was pretty funny.

I'm sure all the two yr olds that have played with this doll are now scared for life. Their parents will be suing for millions for the damage to their daughters psyche.

Reminds me of the Teletubie incident 8 or 10 years ago. Someone at the plant made the audio say "Mama is bad!" and some other stuff...LOL

They had a big recall on the whole deal.

How about all the funny stuff that comes from Disney's perverted employees? I've seen some funny crap! LOL

Who knows? Maybe the doll will be worth millions one day.

Its not unusual for a dolls value to skyrocket.

I used to buy those collector Barbie dolls for my X-husbands God daughter. My nephew (don't ask) was a Barbie freak and used to get them for very very cheap. (Don't ask). I bought one of the current collectible Barbies and gave it to Lauren. About 3 months later my nephew called me and asked me if the doll was wearing panties. I called Lauren and asked her to tilt the box, and she said "no panties". WOO HOO!!!! Apparently 100 rolled off the assembly line with no panties. WORTH BIG BUCKS NOW!
