Re: how do you charge your cases, and what do you use?
I am guessing that you mean a powder charger. I use the the powder measure that came with my reloader. It is one of the steps. Then I also have a powder checker as the next step. It locks up if there is no powder in the shell under it.

Re: how do you charge your cases, and what do you use?
I have a Lee turrert press, it came with the powder measure that sits on top. I also spot weigh the charges to verify the amt being dropped.

Re: how do you charge your cases, and what do you use?
It depends on what kind of ammo I am putting together. For blasting or SHTF reserve ammo, I use the powder drop set to the desired charge. I weight the thrown charge every 10 rounds just to make sure that the set point is not drifting, or that the powder has not settled in the reservoir. I don't worry too much about over charging since this ammo is usually loaded around 75% of the min to max range.
For higher precision shooting loads (hunting, etc.), I set the powder drop 0.5gr - 0.75gr lower than my desired charge and trickle the remainder. Yes, this is a slower method, but when I'm loading 20-50 rounds, and only using a couple at a time, it's not that big of a deal.Soap Box - Worn out : Ballot Box - Broken : Jury Box - Pending : Ammunition Box - Unknown

For any of the ball powders that I use I use RCBS Uniflow measure and drop straight into the case. With ectruded powders I use a Belding & Mull Visiable measure and again drop into the case. With both measures I weight about every 10 cases and haven't had a problem in 25 + years.

Re: how do you charge your cases, and what do you use?
Here is a video of the equipment he has in operation: click The brass case actuates the powder measure, causing a pre-measured charge of powder to drop into the case. No brass, no powder dropped! (You'll see the hopper raise when the powder is dispensed.) The powder measure comes with a set of disks with multiple calibrated holes (cavities) cut in them to measure the powder. When you find a cavity that consistently dispenses the proper charge, it will slide back and forth between the hopper to fill and the die to dump into the case. It's lever and spring actuated on this press. The Lee pistol die sets come with the die to mount the powder measure on top, the rifle charging die is sold separately. Sorry if this was TMI!
