Only way I noticed was the muzzle end looked like someone took a chip at the opening . Any on ehave any advice ?
Also I was shooting factory 55 grain 223 ... I hav eother suppresssors and never had this problem , even with the Gemtechs the Army gave us .

thread on suppressors are not intended for use with peel or lock washers of any kind, they are meant to index off the shulder of the barrel where the threads end.

use of these washers will result in a can ending up off center to the bore axis.

its not a problem with a flash hider, as the hider does not have a narrow path for the bullet to transit, like a suppressor.

peel washers are intended to allow indexing of the A2 flash hider on the AR/M16 only...thats it.

NEVER use washers with suppressors, unless the manufacturer recommends it, and I've never heard one recommend it.

suppressors rarely loosen easily on fine threads like 1/2x28, fire a few shots, check tightness periodically when using is all.

Jay the problem is that this suppressor (AAC Omni) does not "thread on". It's a fast attatch system which utilizes the A2 flash hider. It is necessary to replace the crush washer with a peal washer to get the flash hider so index properly, then the suppressor is secured over top of the flash hider and locks up against it.

I have one and have put at least 800 rounds this summer through it with no baffle or end cap strikes. It's possible that the threading on the barrel is that off that even the wide tolerances were not enough. You should bring it up to Scotia some day and I'll take a look or call your dealer who you got it though and see what they think. I hope it works out for you, AAC seems to have good CS though I have never personally dealt with it.

I going to my dealer this is my first instance with any problems with AAC . I own other supressors and never once had a problem.
    Thanks again .

I didn't look up th model of suppressor, when he mentioned peel washers, I thought he had a thread on can...i've seen lots of folks try using washers and such to prevent the can from unscrewing, only to have baffle and endcap strikes.

ok, if its a QD can, likely its one of 2 things:

    1. the muzzle mounting device is machined off center

    2. the threads are not concentric to the bore.

Calling your dealer wont really be a solution, calling AAC will.

provided the barrel itself, and the muzzle mount are correctly machined, the peel washers obviously wont be an issue.

skip the dealer, call AAC direct.

Took it to east coast gun sales , john the class 3 guy called AAC . They want my upper receiver and the can . Most likely the will find some way to attribute the error to me . I have no doubt . OFcourse the instructions for mounting the can are lacking . I will let you all know how AAC treats me and it will be the determining factor for my next purchase . Of course Gemtech has never treated me badly .

Gotcha Jay Make sence to go to AAC first. I'll stay away from Gem-Tax as I prefer to deal with SWR personally.

Keep us posted on how Kevin/Freddy and the bunch treat you.
