Re: So who else is a libertarian?
Yes, I am a lesbian.
Oh you said a libertarian..... never mind.
A gunowner sat down at the bar and ordered a drink. As he sat sipping his drink, a young woman sat down next to him. She turned to the gunowner and asked, "Are you a real gunowner?"
He replied, "Well, I've spent my whole life, shooting guns, repairing guns, building guns, teaching others how to shoot guns, I’ve shot shotguns, rifles, revolvers etc..... I know gun laws inside and out and carry everywhere I can. so I guess I am a gunowner."
She said, "I'm a lesbian. I spend my whole day thinking about women. As soon as I get up in the morning, I think about women. When I shower, I think about women. When I watch TV, I think about women. I even think about women when I eat. It seems that everything makes me think of women."
The two sat sipping in silence.
A little while later, a man sat down on the other side of the old cowboy and asked, "Are you a real gunowner?"
He replied, "I always thought I was, but I just found out I'm a lesbian."

Re: So who else is a libertarian?
I remember that conservatives and some Republicans used to tout "family values". The strongest unit in human history has always been a traditional family. Father- man, Mother- woman and they taught the lil' chilren. Over the past 30-40 years that idea was ridiculed and hated by the left and some Republicans. Yet here we are today with the society torn to pieces because of the break down of the family. You name every single ill of our society today and it directly relates to the disintegration of the traditional family. Feminism, alphabet people, communism, socialism, government interference, sub par education, drug use, etc... all leftist ideals that have ripped the very fabric of this society apart.
The family break down and the fall of societies is not unprecedented, it has happened time and time again and this society is on the precipice of failing unless society returns to sane practices and the rejection of the things I've already mentioned. There is still time but that time is short. Shall I go through a list of failed empires and dynasties because of the corruption of those societies? We have a Constitution that was drawn up in rare environment by men who strove for freedom but it was also backed by a people that conducted themselves in a prudent and reverent manner. Shall you read the writings of Alexas de Tocqueville "Democracy in America" and see his observations about a vibrant society with the hope of the future? Probably not, most don't read anything other than memes today.
Our education system has failed us and it's no one's fault but our own. We didn't attend School Board meetings, we didn't demand teaching civics and history, we didn't examine what they were teaching in the schools until it was too late. Now there are demon looking trannies reading to the children books a parent would never allow in their house. There are teachers that can't tell you how many stars on the flag or what they represent but they can instruction on how to sign up for the free lunch program even if the parents can afford to buy little Johnny's food. It goes on and on.
It all still goes back to the break down of the family. Strangers are now teaching your children things parents should be responsible for so that it reflects the values of the parents and not the values of politically motivated stranger.Corruption is the default behavior of government officials. Re: So who else is a libertarian?
There is a difference between what are called small l libertarians, and big L Libertarians. Typically a person with libertarian beliefs but not associated with the party is a small l libertarian. A party member is a big L libertarian, and many of them don't actually have any libertarian beliefs.
The Libertarian Party has a problem. For the last 2 decades or so it's presidential candidate slot has been consistently hijacked by people who are not libertarian. People who cannot get traction in the republican party jump over and use the Libertarian Party as a vehicle to try to get into office. Unless you are super wealthy you need a party mechanism to get you elected in this corrupt evil degraded system. Even Trump went with a party, instead of a totally independent run.
I'm a free market anarchist, technically a Rothbardian Anarcho-Capitalist, though I have some differences. Take the libertarian train to the last stop (government only does courts, military and cops) and then uber or lyft or gypsy cab the rest of the way to no state at all.
I morally supported the elder Bush back in '88, but wasn't quite old enough to vote for him. After he broke the no new taxes promise I said F the repubs, and in every election until 2016 I voted 3rd party for president or didn't vote for president. Why bother to vote for a party that is going to flush us down the toilet just a little bit slower? I would vote for some R's down the ticket if they were pro freedom. I was part of the republican revolution of 1994 even though I wasn't a repub. They betrayed us by getting elected to repeal the AWB and then not repealing the AWB. Thank goodness it had a sunset clause. I certainly wouldn't vote for the dems. But the republicans have betrayed gun owners almost as many times as the NRA has.
In 2016 the Dems convinced me to vote for the republican candidate for president for the first time. He's largely been a bust, but a lot of that is not on him. A lot of his failures have been because the entrenched bureaucracy, the deep state has stopped everything he has tried to do. But he is fun as hell to watch. Now I am in a cycle where Trump convinces not to vote for him again in 2020 and then the dems come along and convince me to vote for him again.
I am not happy about the bump stock ban. I don't actually care about bump stocks themselves, but the way it was done sets the stage for a president to do almost anything he wants to. If Trump doesn't do anything else anti gun maybe I will vote for him again. If he does anything else anti gun or anti freedom, I'm out.
We stopped Obama from doing almost everything anti gun for 8 years, but Trump has banned bumpstocks in an unconstitutional way that set a very bad precedent, and has talked about suppressors, red flag laws, and universal background checks. We may well lose more under him than we have under any democrat. But when talking to gun owners about 2nd amendment activism I get a lot of "I voted for Trump, he'll take care of it." and "We have to vote republican or <insert tragic outcome here>!" Yeah, were getting "taking care of" in the old Italian sense. If you don't know who your state legislators are go here:

Re: So who else is a libertarian?
Republicans are just Democrats driving the speed limit.
Politics & voting is corrupt. It is just the illusion of choice.
If you rely on courts and politicians to secure your rights, you are deluding yourself.
They care about their own power.
Remember, it was a "conservative" justice that upheld Obamacare.
We've all been misled into believing that the federal government reigns supreme in all things. They don't.
All federal gun legislation is unconstitutional. So until we start ignoring those laws (like happened with drug laws, prohibition, and sanctuary cities) then our rights are beholden to the corrupt.
