I think you are correct. Personally I am sold because this is something I can do myself. I don't have to ship anything anywhere.
I have done some research and have no doubts that professionally anodized provides the best surface protection. I've also concluded that cerakote would probably be even better than duracoat, but that requires a paint/air gun IIRC."It seems that the Constitution is more or less guidelines than actual rules"

I just "Duracoated" my raw lower. Went with the shake & bake product.
