Default Daydreaming: If you had the dough...SHTF

Say you $100K but you could only buy firearms/accessories. what would you buy? How many of each? Why would you buy certain ones (collector value... uber-ness...leathality)?

Me? I would buy for: #1 Zombie Apocalypse, and #2 Security (by which I mean "heavily arming a small group trusted/trained people around me in a SHTF situation so I/we can survive (either defending or traveling)"

    with rounded, current market prices:

    1. (1) Barret Model 82A1 with day/night optics... $12,000 hard target interdiction
    2. (2) SOCOM II M-14's (the newest version with the accurized barrel) w/day-night optics plus suppressors... $10,000 quiet, reach-out-and-and-kill-zombie/tasty animal ability
    3. (6) LWRC 6.8SPC M6A2's w/ Insight ISM-V's, and Surefire Suppressors... $26,000 (tearing up some ass in a zombie-rush/horde of pillagers event)
    4. (10) FN 5.7's with InSight M5 LAM's, Burris Holo-sights, 30-round magazines, SuperRapTOR and QuieTOR ammo, and threaded barrels w/suppressors...$26,000 IMO, especially with the uber-ammo, the ultimate sidearm
    5. (10) AK's with EOTech sights (for any folks we absorb into our group)...$8,000 easy to use, easy to maintain... ultimate noob gun
    6. (10) FN 40's (for above folks)...$6,000 stopping power, capacity, reliability
    7. applicable slings, holsters, cleaning gear & tools, batteries, mags and ammo...$12,000

There I am. a ridiculous several minutes of life wasted thinking about this... but hey, we all have dreams... mine come in several calibers

anyone else have a dream list? (and yes, my dreams of late have involved bad things happening )

The last thing I want to do is hurt you... but believe me, it's on the damned list.

100 AR-15s with 100 red dot sights, should cost around $75,000.

Spend the remaining $25,000 on ammo and mags.

That is of course if we're planning on SHTF and arming extra folks. Ammo interchangeability and equipment uniformity is more important than special applications. Zombies aren't picky.

I think the General is on track here, but I'd probably go with 50 ARs and 50 AKs, and then spend the rest on optics, slings, mags, ammo, etc. I'd want the AKs for the higher caliber just in case a horde got too close for comfort so that even a less than lethal shot does enough damage to keep them at bay. Nothing against .223, but 7.62/.308 just has that extra damage factor.
Please help my Baby Kitties and I avoid being homeless.

I would build my self an indoor range. That's an accessory right. Then I would build a gun safe/room.

Transferable M2 50BMG machine gun with tripod. Spend the money remaining on ammo and belt links.

Would you really need more than that?

Multiple FN 5-7's and FN P90's (If only they were transferable) along with 2 Mosberg 590a's with folding stocks for each individual in my "group"

Though an AA-12 or two would be fun too

    ...

Though if I had the money, and truly needed SHTF weapons that were legal and obtainable, they'd have to be transferable full-auto AK-47's. After all Of all the weapons in the vast soviet arsenal nothing was more profitable than Avtomat Kalashnikova model of 1947, more commonly known as the AK-47, or Kalashnikov. It's the worlds most popular assault rifle, a weapon all fighters love. An elegantly simple nine pound amalgamation of forged steel and plywood, it doesn't break, jam, or overheat. It will fire whether it's covered in mud or filled with sand. It's so easy even a child could use it, and they do. The Soviets put the gun on a coin. Mozambique put it on their flag. Since the end of the Cold War, the Kalashnikov has become the Russian people's greatest export. After that comes vodka, caviar, and suicidal novelists. One thing is for sure, no one was lining up to buy their cars.

(And if anyone can tell me the movie, they get rep )
