Stolen handgun help
Okay long story short. my ex wife's brother lived with us forsome time and abandoned everything to live on a commune in MO. Among his items abandoned was a sweet S&W Model 13-8 .22 revolver. I have been unable to contact him or my ex wife and this is going on 6 years that I have been in posetion of this gun. I want to know first if it is stolen or not. If it is not can I go into an FFL as if it were mine and trade it in legally? If it is stolen or I am unable to sell/trade it I will wait to see if there is another "No questions" drop-offs.
The Smith & Wesson serial number is [removed ~gnbrotz] and it is the model 13-8.
Please if there are any law enforcment officers or dealers on here help me out to do whats legal and right.
Thank youLast edited by gnbrotz; October 13th, 2008 at 07:49 PM.

Re: Stolen handgun help
First, don't ever post your guns serial number. I hope a mod will come by and edit your post if you don't do it yourself. I wish I could help, but I don't know how you should proceed at this point. Good luck!
They're just like small children, Its an EGO thing, " well if I can't have it this way, then I want it this way"..WAAAAAH - BrownBear (speaking of liberals)

Re: Stolen handgun help
Gun dealers do not check for stolen guns.
Write down the info and take it to the sheriffs dept at the courthouse.Go sell crazy some where else, we're all stocked up here.

Re: Stolen handgun help
Thanks for all the good advice. This gun sells like most smiths for a good price, Like I said I would like to keep it or sell it. I just don't want to have something hot. It is an old gun and could have been sold private, but it's history is unknown to me.
