Re- the Colt .28 official police?

I would like to get the age on this beautiful Colt , if nyone hs knowledge on these Colts. When they were made , etc.

The serial # is 683351, its a Colt officil Police , 5 inch bbl.

Early to mid '40s is my best guess.

My estimated percentage of year of production.
1941 20%
1942 40%
1943 25%
1944 15%

Your gun was made in late 1942. In 1927 the Army Special was upgraded to the Official Police, and over 400,000 were made by 1970.

Thanks, guys, i appreciate the info, this is my latest Kick collecting these beautiful old Revolvers now that i have all the Modern semi-automatics i could ever want .

I have a Beautiful stainless Colt Anaconda on lay away , will probably get it next week.
