Firefighters battling a queens house fire Sunday morning found more than just flames inside, cops said.

After dousing the blaze, rescuers found two rifles and a shotgun inside the two-story home on 98th St. in East Elmhurst, an FDNY spokesman said.

Police rushed to the home and arrested residents Jason Clarke, 20, for having the shotgun and Caprise Scott, 35, for owning the two rifles, said cops.

Both men were charged with criminal possession of a weapon, said police.

Fire officials were investigating last night whether the 9:45 a.m. fire was intentionally set, said an FDNY spokesman.

No one was hurt in the fire.
Looks like the standards of an "arms cache" are getting lower and lower...I think everyone here has an "arms cache" in their home...good thing no one lives in NYC...stupid, just plain stupid

That's what I was thinking. I guess you just aren't allowed to own any firearms in NY.

This thread made me realize that in the eyes of the media, I am most likely supporting an entire nation.

no long guns or handguns without a permit are allowed in NYC (Queens is one of the 5 Boroughs)...I was just surprised that they called it a cache...I mean, 3 isn't really a cache...

The media is very good at catch phrases.
    • "Assault Weapon"
    • "Sniper"
    • "Arms Cache"
    • "Machine Gun"
    • "Automatic Weapons"

because it grabs the attention of who ever is listening. Doesn't surprise me that they call it a "Weapons Cache" (technically they are not incorrect), because "Two Queens men busted when arms cache found in their burning home" grabs you more because of it's military/guerrilla warfare association and sound than "Men found to have illegal guns in their home after house fire"
