So if I move I can't bring my pistols with me?
I haven't been on in awhile. Anyway I have purchased two pistols since I got my gun rights back in 2016. I can't get a LTCF since I have drug convictions on my record. I am clear to buy and own pistols but not get an LTCF. Under Pennsylvania law it seems that I can only transport my handguns if I am going to the target range or going hunting. I have a sportsman permit that covers me for hunting, fishing, and dog training. However, it doesn't seem that I can legally transport them for any other reason. What if I move and simply want to bring my pistols to my new home? It seems I would be committing a felony as I am not going target shooting or hunting, fishing, or dog training. Theoretically if I was pulled over while moving and had two unloaded pistols in my vehicle I could be arrested and charged with a felony. Maybe I am wrong. Something I've learned since getting my rights back is that gun laws are incredibly chaotic. There is state law and federal law. Sometimes they coincide and sometimes they clash. Aside from that there are all these strange grey areas like this one. Did I mention I hate liberals? I am positive they did this.

There are exceptions to carry in a vehicle.
https://www.psp.pa.gov/firearms-info...nsylvania.aspx
8) Any person while carrying a firearm which is not loaded and is in a secure wrapper from the place of purchase to his home or place of business, or to a place of repair, sale or appraisal or back to his home or place of business, or in moving from one place of abode or business to another or from his home to a vacation or recreational home or dwelling or back, or to recover stolen property under section 6111.1(b)(4) (relating to Pennsylvania State Police) or to a place of instruction intended to teach the safe handling, use or maintenance of firearms, or back to a location to which the person has been directed to relinquish firearms under 23 Pa.C.S. § 6108 (relating to relief) or back upon return of the relinquished firearm or to a licensed dealer’s place of business for relinquishment pursuant to 23 Pa.C.S. § 6108.2 (relating to relinquishment for consignment sale, lawful transfer or safekeeping) or back upon return of the relinquished firearm or to a location for safekeeping pursuant to 23 Pa.C.S. § 6108.3 (relating to relinquishment to third party for safekeeping) or back upon return of the relinquished firearm.

Thanks for the info. I couldn't find the entire law online. Just bits and pieces. I am super nervous about getting in trouble anymore.

As others have said you can move them to your new house.
But PA law sucks regarding having pistols in a car without a license to carry.

Ya it does. I just want to use my revolvers for target practice and hunting and I just want to do it without being paranoid about inadvertently breaking laws. If I could get an LTCF I would just to be safe. Neither of my revolvers are something I would carry concealed even if I could. Both have a 6" barrel. I bought them specifically for hunting.

Can you be more specific as to the process you went through? IMO, you did not really "get your gun rights back", as you are still partially prohibited in how you can legally use items that you can legally own. I get the legal distinction, but you're still saddled with a pretty burdensome limitation.
Did you have certain charges dismissed because of ARD completion, etc.? I'm curious how you went through some "restoration" process, yet still have limitations.
How old are the drug charges? Have you considered pursing a pardon/expungement to fully restore all rights related to firearms?Get your "Guns Save Lives" stickers today! PM for more info.

Re: So if I move I can't bring my pistols with me?
My juvenile record prohibited me from owning guns until I reached the age of 30. I just had to wait until I was 30. I didn't go through any restoration process. My adult drug convictions don't prohibit me from buying or owning guns but they do prohibit me from getting an LTCF. My juvy record is sealed but not expunged. My adult convictions should be sealed in a few years as a result of the clean slate act but sealed is not the same as expunged. I would need a governors pardon to get them expunged.

Im positive you did this to yourself... but to answer your question, you can transport your unloaded pistols in the trunk of your vehicle, provided it's locked and separate from ammunition. Simply follow federal law regarding transportation of firearms to your new residence.
I wouldn't stop anywhere else though, just residence A to residence B
