He also makes a 10mm version. I always kinda wanted a Luger, but damn, now I want an original, one in .45 ACP, and one in 10mm...

Lugerman makes a bunch of crazy luger inspired stuff.
It's all very pricey but cool as hell.
Were I wealthy, I would love a luger carbine in 10mm for rolling pigs.

The Luger was designed for a 9 mm that is not the US Weak one!! Try shooting 124 grain FMJ NATO specs and it works all day. Dave_n

True, that. I can 100% agree from my experience. When I first bought a Luger many years ago, I read that they liked more powerful ammunition. Thinking that "more powerful" ammo back in the turn of the century was equivalent to our modern day loadings, I shot some 115gr Winchester white box. Lame. I hand loaded some 115gr whollupers with Unique and it shot great. It ran like a swiss watch. I'd have no problems shooting +p loads out of a Luger.

Again, true words being spoken; I also owned a few Walther P-1's (an allow framed P-38). They sucked. Sorry. I just couldn't get them to shoot reliably, even after changing all the springs I could get. I was very disappointed because they were so cheap at the time; only about $200 from CDNN as surplus German police pistols. Not my fault, but my experience with the P-08 versus P-38/P1.

As a side note: the P-1's would absolutely choke on any surplus NATO marked cases, to the point of needing a brass rod to tap them out, even when hand loading them. I wonder if it was because of the whole "civilian can't shoot military ammo in Germany" thing or not.

My Luger runs fine off the Federal bulk pack I get at Walmart. The P38 gets hang ups here and there but it still has its original springs and they need to be changed.

I’m not real worried about complete reliability from 75 year old firearms. I own them for historic reasons as well as fun, and not for defensive purposes.

The original cartridge was the 7.65 Luger. You can find them occasionally in that caliber, but they are rare. I've always wanted one to go with my 9MM. I want to say the Browning Hi Power was also made in that caliber, but now I'm not sure.

The BHP was 9mm from the start, it was one of the requirements for the gun from the French military.
