Bad range etiquette?
I went to a range on the broad mountain to shoot along with my girlfriend. There was a guy with a tactical vest, kneepads, the whole 9yds.we were at the last lane on the 25yd range.as she is shooting I'm watching this guy.he chambers a round in the ar,then walks behind us and lays prone and starts shooting.he is to the left of us,where there is no lane.after he finished he got up and went back to a normal lane and shot a handgun that I watched him drop as he was inserting a mag.he then tried to walk behind us again so I told him not to do it.he starts ranting how I'm not the cops,he can do what he wants etc.i ask wtf was he shooting at laying prone where there is no lane.tells me he is shooting across to where his targets are hanging,4 lanes to our right.he says its accuracy drills he is doing.i had a few choice words for him and went on my way.my girlfriend says I should have let him do whatever he wants, including walking behind us with a chambered round.what say you all?

Re: Bad range etiquette?
People like him are probably why RSO's exist.

A tactical rifle but to the head should straighten him out.
Do that shit when no one else is around, or on your own property.

Re: Bad range etiquette?
My public range time has dramatically decreased since the guy two bays down was trying to unjam his AR pointing straight at me. I'm sighting for a shot, then see something in my periphery, look, and jump back with a "HEY, point that thing somewhere else!"
He kinda gave me a WTF look, but his buddy stepped in and gave him a talking to - so that turned out well.
For how much traffic suburban SGL ranges get, it would make sense to have a paid RSO at least on the weekends.

Report his license plate number to the game commission. Unsafe actions need to be stopped so you calling him out was good in my book.

Re: Bad range etiquette?
Were this to happen at my club, I would photograph the shooter, request to see his membership card (should be on display anyway) and photograph that, and immediately attempt to make contact by phone with any board member I could reach. My club take safety seriously, and strongly encourages us to police our own and promptly raise any concerns we have.

Local range RSO's are having a field day now that warmer weather brought out the fair weather gun folks.
So far the best has been folks going down range prior to cease fire and cold range were announced. Can't fix stupid.Una Salus Victis Nullam Sperare Salutem
