This is EXACTLY why we must NEVER allow a registration/Universal Background Checks to take place. This crap is happening now. Today.

Too late for that. They already have the backed up Nics database on anyone who has used Nics to buy a gun.

Well 95% of NZ guns, it's unknown where they are. All the police mostly know is who the licence holders are.
