Default Philly anti-gun SJW DA to enforce reporting lost/stolen gun law

You damn well better know your firearm was lost or stolen and report it within 24 hours of loss or theft or face arrest...

Philadelphia to enforce lost and stolen gun law

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- If you live in Philadelphia and fail to report a lost or stolen gun you will now be subject to prosecution.

District Attorney Larry Krasner was joined by activists, lawmakers and the police commissioner Wednesday to announce the enforcement of long-ignored city code.

The Lost or Stolen Firearm Law has been on the books for nearly a decade but has never been enforced by the Philadelphia DA's office.

Krasner says too many times legal gun owners illegally sell their guns, then falsely claim they were lost or stolen when those guns are then used in crimes

"Really? Did you tell your insurance company? No. Did you tell the police? No. But that's your story. Yup. And they've been getting away with it," he said.

Krasner says those who fail to call 911within 24 hours of having their gun lost or stolen can face a fine of up to $2,000.

Repeat offenders can face jail time.

Sure, it'll be ten+ years for them but the thief who stole it and uses it in an armed robbery will only get three.

Hmm, I wonder if Pittsburgh's blatant disregard for preemption laws spurred this on.

    Dear Mr Krasner

This is what we average legal gun owning morons call a straw purchase, and I also believe it's federally illegal. Now I am just some lowly serf that's only real use it to be used as a tax money dispenser for our gov overlords, but I do vaguely remember reading at least up to a half a dozen cases of illegal straw purchases within the state of PA where the person (mostly women) were in fact caught doing this then given no real punishment for putting a weapon in the hands of a deadly felon.

Lots of tough talk from someone who believes in enforcing his own brand of justice or lack there of outside of the law.

    Yeah. Everyone knows it's maroon
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Actually, I see this as a good thing. It will allow someone to have standing to get it overturned.

    This

Also what about long guns that were sold privately and then they could have been stolen from the next owner. The 4473 would only trace back to the original purchaser at the FFL and then the paper trail would end. It would be on the DA to prove you didn’t sell the long arm privately. Oh and state preemption. Good luck DA.

As long as they can afford a decent lawyer.
