Any doctors or other health professionals here?
I'm hoping we have some medical minds on these boards. I'm not looking for medical advice, just some help with some homework!
In one of my Anatomy & Physiology classes, our professor has given us 5 case studies, to which we need to provide the correct diagnosis, treatment plan, and the pathophysiology of the disease/disorder.
These are for bonus points, so it's really cheating if I get a doctor, etc. to help me out. Besidies, I'm an RN so I'm not sure why he would have us diagnose things, but I guess as bonus points it's ok. He's an MD so he kind of approaches A&P like that.
Anyway, if anyone thinks they can help me out, let me know, and I'll type the case studies up and shoot them your way!

Lots of EMTs (myself included) and Paramedics on board.
Here's several conditions that come to mind because they are common reasons people call EMS, but can present differently in different patients, so they're not quickly recognizable without a good assessment and patient history.
Diabetic emergency
Head trauma/concussion
Aortic aneurysm
Bipolar disease
Carbon monoxide poisoning (kerosene heating season is upon us)

Re: Any doctors or other health professionals here?
I thought you were just asking for ideas, not asking us to do your homework!?!
The last thing an ER doc wants is for lowly EMTs, especially us volunteer scum to make a diagnosis. If we so much as hint we know what's going on, they'll run 20 tests just to prove us wrong and keep us in our place. All they want from us is pretty packages and vitals, with the occassional bow down on the knees to tell them how great they are.You are a straight white man. You don't get to be the victim, sweetie.

I was in cell biology, physiology and vascular research for several years.
I don't know if my experience doing balloon angioplasty on rabbits will be of help.
