The * for 296 goes to the old Winchester data to not reduce & use the exact components.
Today, its different. Follow current load data. I would reduce by 3% for 296 loads. For 231 reduce 10% ? I would not use 231 for 357 or 44 Mag. The powder is to fast, i think, never used it.

My standard load for 44 mag with 296 is 23 grs and my home cast 240/250 gr lswc in Starline brass. my maximum in S&W M29-2.Last edited by 243winxb; December 31st, 2021 at 02:46 PM.

^^^^ Hopefully they have similar verbiage for ht e.357 Loads also. In any event there's new and updated info available and for more powders also!
