Default Selling Hand gun to family member

Hi everyone I have a quick question. I always like to be on the legal side of things. I am a Maryland resident and recently bought a XD45 that i do not like. MY dad shot it a couple weeks ago and loved it and said if I ever thought of selling it he would take it.

Well i want to sell it but he is in Pennsylvania. Can I just give it to him as a gift or sell? Or would we have to do paper work?

Is the policy for long guns the same/different?

Interstate transfers have to go through an FFL.

Righto...and I think any handgun transfers have to go through an FFL as well, whether interstate or within the state. I sold my brother one of my Ruger handguns a while ago, and went through an FFL.

If I'm not mistaken, even rifle transfers, family or no, require an ffl when crossing state lines.

As said prior, all interstate transfers must go through a FFL.

Instate transfers between spouses, parent/child, and grandparent/grandchild do not require any paperwork.
