Para 14-45 Lda trigger reset fail
I have a Para 14-45 Lda hi cap Ltd. The gun has recently begun to frequently not reset the trigger when going into battery. By all appearances and visual checks it is closed.
I have to open the slide approx 1/2 travel, the trigger will reset, let the slide close, and it will fire OK but will most likely not reset the trigger again. At most I can get two or three shots off before trigger does not reset again.
There does not seem to be a problem with feeding or ejection of shells either.
Firearm is clean, recoil spring should be OK ( approx 700 rounds fired).
Any suggestions as to what I could check for problems

Re: Para 14-45 Lda trigger reset fail
A weak spring perhaps? Does the Para double stacks uses a spring like a regular 1911 or is the trigger spring a seperate spring?
look into a weak spring or a worn Bow.

Re: Para 14-45 Lda trigger reset fail
Are you fully releasing the trigger between each shot, or are you trying to 'shoot the reset'?
Make a conscious effort to touch your fingernail to the front of the trigger guard between each shot and see if this still happens.Get your "Guns Save Lives" stickers today! PM for more info.

Re: Para 14-45 Lda trigger reset fail
I'm sure I'm not riding the trigger. The more I look at it I may strip it down and see if the drawbar is hanging up on it's platform or binding on the hammer assembly some how.
Thanks

Re: Para 14-45 Lda trigger reset fail
The Para is different. It has a torsion spring at the trigger which returns the hammer and drawbar to normal position.
The hammer also has a spring which returns it to closed position after slide has cycled and the cocking cam (under coil spring pressure) is picked up by the sear. Pulling the trigger moves the drawbar forward which in turn causes the hammer to move back. When the hammer is fully back the drawbar contacts the sear and the cocking cam is released taking the hammer back wth it striking the firing pin.
I am going to look at possible binding of the drawbar at it's support platform or at the hammer contact area
Thanks
Jim

Re: Para 14-45 Lda trigger reset fail
I'm having the same problem with my LDA when I pull the trigger hammer goes back drops forward like it is supposed to but when I rack the slide back to reset the plate that holds the firing pin in place falls out. The LDA worked fine until I did a normal disassemble of the slide from the frame and since then it hasn't worked well. I haven't tried firing it since because the plate holding the firing pin in issue is quite worrisome.

Re: Para 14-45 Lda trigger reset fail
OP check to see if the draw bar is coming off the little pin that it is supposed to be hooked to. This is on the right side of the frame. It is held in place by the slide check to see if the slide is riding over the pin.
