I personally think the Dems are too invested and ruthless to do it at this point. They want it all and will win at any cost. They see cutting a deal with Trump is a deal with the devil, just much worse.

Honestly I expected this. We did prevent Obama from appointing just before an election and I bet all of us agreed with the reasoning. Sure Obama would have used it as an opportunity to destroy the nation whereas Trump is trustworthy to do what is right for us, but yeah, fairness. This will be a huge campaign point for Trump and should help him politically as the Dems get even more rabid in public.

The only reasoning is that he would appoint a liberal. Unlikely with Trump.
