    Default "Secured" weapon?

what exactly does SECURED mean? like in a safe/gun cabinet? or could i just have my gun lock on it and call it secure? (My gun lock goes through the space where my magazine goes and through the slide. making damn sure NOTHING will fire through it.)

This could be the basis of a good joke. But I guess it would depend on the context of the statement .. I have secured my firearm could mean:

    1. I have locked it in a safe.
    2. I just purchased one from my favorite dealer.
    3. I have made it safe from accidental discharge.

Kinda like asking the Army, Air Force and the Marines to secure a building:

The Army puts barbed wire and guards around it and keeps anyone (and everyone) from entering or leaving.

The Marines assault and clear the building and kill everyone inside.

The Air Force buys the building.

that's great! i like teh marine assesment of secure. lol. but i mean, if a government agency came into my house, or leo and saw my gun sitting on my nightstand with the lock running through the magazine hole and hole in the slide... would that be concidered secured?

I'm not even going to ask why the police would be in your bedroom.

Honestly? It depends on who you are asking.

One man's "secured" is fully loaded, one in the chamber, behind every door in the house, and a locked front door.

Another may say the firearm must be disassembled, and the parts locked in separate containers, which are then placed in fireproof vaults having biometric, voice recognition, pupil scanning, breathalyser, secret coded, locking systems. (with ammo secured in separate vaults, of course.)

My definition falls somewhere between the two.

This reminded me of the movie "Blackhawk Down" when the Delta soldier told the officer "My safety is right here" (while indicating his trigger finger)

I guess everyone's definition is different.

The question still is impossible to answer. What do you mean by "would that be considered secured?". It sound like you live in Washington D.C. and are worried about some overly aggressive police force trying to enforce unconstitutional D.C. gun laws. Why do you think that a PA LEO has any business commenting on how you store your firearms in your private home.

I am not trying to give you a hard time. You can ask anything that you want but I sort of thought that you might be basing your question on a false assumption of PA law.

Why do you think it has to be secured? If you saw it written somewhere you could look to see if it gives you a defintion of they mean as Secured.

You could also do some research as to how case law has defined secured.
