Outstanding! But did you get that at the CMP from the current batch ? All of the ones I saw so far have been rebuilt.

If they recently let that one out as a standard service grade you won the lottery.

When the CMP announced they would sell 1911s by a lottery I contacted them with some questions. I really wanted a Mint to an Un-issued 1911A1 so I did not to enter the lottery. I have been watching the CMP Auctions for 1911s with a 95% finish or better. I started bidding them and stayed within my budget range and I finally got this Ithaca.

My wife may start bidding on one in the very near future.

Looks like they are up to about 13,700. Friend of mine got his the other day - a nice RR matching with dry gray finish. We sent our orders in same day and my number is 18,000 range - ugh.

I'm in the 16,000 range and have been following the CMP forums closely. They seem to be churning them out at a good pace. My only concern is that no one really knows how many pistols they have on hand to be sold. It seems that we were told of the initial ~8000 pistols they received, but the CMP has been very coy about what they've received since then. Clearly since they're now selling in the high 13,000's, they received more than the initial 8000, but no one really knows how many more.

On another note, I've made myself an appointment at the CMP north store for next week. Hoping to score a 1903 Springfield and/or a Krag rifle.

Yup. I heard they are keeping mum on what they are getting in to not raise attention. You know, all those 1911's in the hands of street gangs and thugs is pretty rampant so the left would be all over it - lol. I just hope being in the 18,000's I see one at all - and if I do, probably won't have much choices unless they continue to get some in obviously. Fingers crossed!

No, these were part of our strategic war reserve, they kept all the best ones. With the new M17 coming online and the M9 easing out of service, the best examples of those will take the place in the war reserve.

Can you imagine in 100 years people will be entering the CMP lottery for rare M17s..... One can hope.

My comment was in reference to the know-it-all naysayers here who said the same when the 1911 release was first announced.
