Default Looking for advise on a S&W 65-4

I'm looking for some input on a 65-4 I saw today. I've been looking for a used 4" .357 for a while now. I've been kicking myself since I passed up on a 4" 686 a couple years ago.

I would still prefer a 686, but for $350 I'm considering it. It's in good shape, and has
fairly tight lock up. I didn't have time to check the timing as I was in a hurry.
Only a couple minor marks, and some paint half heartedly put on the sights.
I'm also not a big fan of the fixed sights, but I think I can get past that.

Basically I want this to be my all around workhorse gun to take hunting, hikes, walk the property that sort of thing (lots of bears around here).
My 586 6" is too awkward and requires too much care for this purpose.

I didn’t get ser#, but I'm thinking it's a later model because it has the same grips as the newer 619/620

    The 619/620 pictured below.

    Any comments welcomed

    I have 4 K frame Smiths, 2 .38's (10 & 15) and 2 .357's (66 & 13).
As far as I am concerned, you cannot go wrong with the 65.
If I could only have 1 handgun out of my collection, the 66 is on the top of the list, with my Colt Combat Commander, as to the one I would keep.
As it's used, be sure to check it out well.
My 66 has had more ammo through it than I can count, and was my carry gun for work for many years. It's still ready to go.

65 is a good one to have. i have a 66. its fairly beat up and is still very accurate. K frames are nice to carry. the L frames are pretty heavy, much nice shooting though. my 66 is my "all around workhorse gun"

Not a thing wrong with a 65. If you're used to carrying around your 6 incher, the extra weight of a 4 inch L shouldn't bother you. Either way, can't go wrong.
