7.62x54R questions
Because of these suggestions http://www.pafoa.org/forum/rifles-42...15-yr-old.html ,I am going to have a new caliber to load.
I looked at the Midway flyer, and brass was as much as loaded WW ammo. Anyone have a cheaper source for boxer primed brass?
What is a good powder/bullet to use?
My search on this forum I found a post saying Midway doesn't reccomend Lee dies in this caliber due to a wrong size expander die. Anyone know about this?
Anything else I need to know about loading the 7.62x54R?I vote the second first

Re: 7.62x54R questions
This is good brass, PRVI, these guys are pretty reasonable:

Or get the ammo PRVI here and save the brass:

I have used this brass and the stuff is still going good after a half dozen or so reloads.
I use RCBS full length dies and have never had a problem. I have also used Winchester shells, they are very good.Last edited by cosmo05; September 29th, 2008 at 09:02 AM. Reason: Add info

Re: 7.62x54R questions
If you only neck size the brass it should last quite a long time (20+ reloads).
Neck size, bolt gun, moderate load = long brass life. Anneal the necks ever 10 or so shootings and it should last eleventy billion years.

Re: 7.62x54R questions
Funny you should ask. Check out my luck with the 7.62x54R:
http://www.gswagner.com/mosin-nagant/loads/loads.html
The reason Midway shies away from Lee is that only one expander is included. RCBS includes two; one for each possible bore.
A good source for 139 grain soft points, for light loads is to pull some bullets from 7.63x39’s.
