Ditch my S&W M&P40C for new carry gun?
I'm thinking of getting rid of my M&P40C for a lighter carry gun. Anyone think I should/should not? (Thinking Glock 43, M&P Shield or Glock 26 off the top of my head. Hate stock Glock sights, though) I'd prefer to stay .40 S&W so I don't have to stock another caliber, but open to 9mm.
Started carrying my XD40SC today to see how much better, if at all, it feels for me vs the M&P. I carry everything IWB via Crossbreed holsters. Maybe the holster is my issue?

I'm sure you can pick up a .40 Shield for cheap. I don't think a G26/27 will be that different from an M&Pc so maybe steer towards the single stacks.
Also just bite the bullet and start stocking 9mm. There are advantages I'm sure your aware of.

Glock 43. with a IWB holster. Easier then carrying a cellphone. I won't sell mine and I have had a lot of guns over the years.

I have IWB carried a Glock 19, 26 and a 17, sold the 26, I still carry the 19 when it's cooler out, summer I carry the 43.
I have the Talo edition it has better sights then the standard Glock sights, but you can always swap out standard sights.

I have both a 43 (wife’s gun that i’ll sometimes use) and a 9mm Shield upgraded with APEX trigger. Both carry very well in JM Custom Kydex holsters. I can rapid fire the Shield slightly better given its better trigger but the stock Glock isn’t far behind. If I had to keep only 1, it would be the 43 because I carry these when I really want to conceal and the shorter grip frame of the Glock with both using flush mags conceals better for me.
Don’t think you can go wrong with either.

I like consolidating calibers too. I second the Shield recommendation if you want to carry concealed. The M&P could be your OC gun and the Shield could be your CC choice. XDs are a fine choice too.
Walther PPS is another nice option, comfortable to carry from what I hear.

I am all in on the Glock 43 ! If you dont like the standard sites you can get their Nite sites or aftermarket ! I also have my Glock 19 2nd gen I CCW but not as much as the 43 ! Now the Shield is a good CCW also and if you want the extra weight get the 40s&w caliber ! Highly recomend shooting both for your pleasure !

I wouldn't recommend sticking with .40 S&W if the goal is to have a lighter carry gun. We're not talking about picking up an esoteric caliber, we're talking 9mm, the most common pistol caliber there is. That opens up a lot of options.
Heck, I'd want some 9mm on hand even if I didn't own a 9mm gun, just to have when shooting with friends.
