Best way to store gun?
Whats the best way to store a blued 38spl? I dont want to screw up the finish. I try to keep it oiled but it just keeps drying out in the foam case that I have it in. Thanks

Re: Best way to store gun?
I just oil mine. It should be OK in a foam case unless it is in a REALLY humid area or prone to get wet. I keep my blued CZ75 in the foam case it came with and just oil the outside with Remoil. Never any problems with rust in the 2 years I've had it.

Give it to me, I'll take real good care of it.

The foam may be absorbing the oil off the pistol. (Just a thought) You could try putting some type of barrier around it. Some new pistols come in an open plastic bag.

Re: Best way to store gun?
yea a good oiling and then wrap in plastic should take care of your problem. A plastic bag would maybe work but i would think saran wrap would work even better.

Re: Best way to store gun?
I would not store any gun inside a case. Thats like a giant moisture absorbing sponge. Buy a steel pistol box, or a stand up gun cabinet where the gun can lie on a shelf or hang from a hook where it won't be completely surrounded by foam or fleece. Place a few dessicant packs inside the cabinet and replace or reactivate regularly.

You can oil it up and then put it in a silicon gun sock. But I store my guns in my safe.

Re: Best way to store gun?
Foam attracts moisture. Moisture + gun = bad things.
It would be best to store your gun in a safe with a Golden rod or desiccant packs .
I wipe my guns down with a silicone cloth before I put them back into my safe.
