Default Tuck-able questions (JS TAM vs. Spartan)

    I need a tuckable.

I usually carry the Kahr K9 and love how it feels. I shoot the XD better and carry it okay so that might be my new CCW. But I want the ability to tuck in my shirt.

Let me say this: I HATE IWB holsters. I got spoiled with comfortable OWB and if I'm not tucking I will rock the slim carry or speed scabbard depending on the gun. So I'm not sure how much I will use this but I want deep concealment.

    First contender:

JS holsters TAM (tuckable absolute minimum)

    Pros:

    Simple (I like that)
    Good concealment
    Affordable
Owner is a GREAT guy who is helping out a fellow forum member
    Sweatproof
    Has tuckable mag pouches

    Cons:

Nothing for the Kahr (pending confirmation)
    Not adjustable
"j" clip puts the weight on the pants NOT the belt. (standard clip solves the problem)

    Comp-Tac Minotaur Spartan

This is the same as the MTAC but without the fancy backing plate and finish. I'd rather put the money towards extra clips than into fancy stuff.

    Pros:

    Very tuckable
Modular (optional bodies for different guns)
2 clips (and options, C clip, Velcro clip, ext...)
    More comfortable?

    Cons:

    Less simple (more to break)
    More expensive
Sending money to a big company instead of a small business owner

So thee are my main options right now. I guess I'm looking for feedback from people who have tried either.

I have the Comp-Tac CTAC, all kydex version of the minitaur/MTAC and spartan. If they'd had the MTAC for my gun id've probably gotten that for the modular bodies. As is is, the CTAC is completely comfortable for me, conceals beautifully (im 5'9" 125lbs, so thats saying something) and the adjustability is fantastic. Also, Comp-tac isnt a big company. It started as one man in his garage and has expanded since then, but it is far far far from being some corporate conglomerate.

Every step of the way I was recieving emails from their staff about the status of my holster, from the initial automated "order recieved" email it proceeded to an email informing me it had gone to production, then to shipping, then another one notifying me it had been shipped.

When I emailed with a question about another model of holster I had a response from the owner of the company within 24 hours, the email I sent them thanking them for the prompt delivery after I recieved my holster was replied to within 24 hours also.

If you post at glocktalk at all, NormalRandy is the production manager at comp-tac

I have a comp tac minotaur. Works well, use it for a G26, pics below.

    WOW!

Just got off the phone with Mike of JM holsters. Talk about great customer service!

First off, he's a really cool guy. We BS's about guns, politics, jobs, ext... I called to see if they have a Kahr Holster and he was completely cool about it. He could form one for me no problem, offered to customize the standard tuck-able if I wanted, offered to make a custom magazine holder for me, and finally offered to send them out for me to try for free!

What the heck kind of service is that?! I've never seen anything like that!

I think I'll just order it because they will buy it back if it doesn't work or even if I just don't like it.

    Guys, give them a try!

Good to hear, if you decide you don't like it, definitely check out the comp-tac holsters.

Cool! I emailed Mike about a Kahr PM9 holster last year, but he didn't have a blank/dummy Kahr at the time. Which model Kahr will yours be for?

    K9

I ordered the TAM. He is using the PM9 to mold from which should work because while the grip and slide are shorter than mine everything that will contact the holster should be the same dimensions. And if it doesn't work they will either make it work or buy it back.

    I'm happy.

I like the Milt Sparks VMII.
Had one for 8 years now. Long before knowing of JS Holster.
Problem with Sparks is the wait.

I will be trying some more JS Holsters stuff... I have their kydex mag holder and light holder for about a year now. Love 'em.
