Moderator Feedback
Given the nature of this thread, and to make sure that people weren't getting neg-repped because of attitudes, I started looking through the rep comments of the posters in this thread (yeah, mods can do that, Chaz).
To all the people that CAN’T log into my account, No, I have not rep’d anybody for that thread or even participated in it.
Gotta go now and delete all my personal information from my private messages, which I use to meet and communicate with other gun owners and nice people of PA.

Re: Moderator Feedback
We(mods)can't read your private messages.
Before I became a moderator, I often wondered if it were possible, and had concerns about including personal info in PMs.
Now I know that it is not.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: Moderator Feedback
I can guarantee that the only people who can read PMs are the sender, the receiver and the owner of the database. I've had the unfortunate pleasure of having to go in via queries to verify the claim of a threat in a previous forum I was an admin of.
I really don't mind people reading my rep comments, but that's just me.

Re: Moderator Feedback
Maybe this isn't the place for this but i have a question. I figured this was related to chazmans thread---found that he was banned for one month for trolling.
Now the question is---how is it that some people can threaten / wish death on fellow board members and be sent away for one week and trolling is a month long vacation?
The rules do not seem to be clear:
Trolling
Misquoting (No warning, 20 points, Expires in 1 month)
The forum software allows you users to "quote" other people's responses in their reply. While cutting out parts of a quote for brevity is OK, manipulating someone's post in a quote to make it look like they said something they did not is a big no-no.
Sock Puppetry (No warning, 40 points, Expires in 1 month)
Creating multiple accounts for the purpose of bolstering your own arguments and causing drama will result in all accounts being banned. Yes, we can figure this out pretty easily. For more information please see the Wikipedia entry on Sock Puppetry
Hateful Content
Extreme (No warning, 320 points, Never expires)
Simply put, we are not interested in racial slurs or when your next KKK meeting is.
Inflammatory (No warning, 20 points, Expires in 1 month)Think all the world's problems are the fault of an entire [race, religion, etc]? Save it for another forum.
Note: This rule does not apply to political parties/ideaologies, you are more than welcome to blame all the world's problems on liberals, conservatives, libertarians, or especially socialists.
Borderline (Warning optional, 5 points, Expires in 1 month)
Please keep the subtle, implied racism, etc. in your head.
But then in the other thread about points building up---these are the numbers
If a user reaches a certain level of infraction points, this will result in an automatic ban depending on the amount of points they have. The current automatic-ban levels are as follows:
10 Points: 1 Day
20 Points: 1 Week
40 Points: 1 Month
80 Points: 6 Months
160 Points: 1 Year
320 Points: Permanent
I'm not trying to cause trouble but it seems the rules / point system is a little askew. I'm just trying to figure out how it works. Like i said, i know for a fact that one member was banned for one week for threats (from my understanding, that ban should have either been permanant or 1 month)--or do the mods use their own discretion and only use the point system as a guide?

Re: Moderator Feedback
Not familiar with your example. If someone had directly threatened/wished death on a fellow board member they most likely would have been given Harassment/threats/blatant. Or stricter if the staff deemed it appropriate.
>snip<
Blatant threats are 20pts unless the staff issues stricter. Again, not familiar with your reference
Issues like social experiments and trolling for the purpose of inciting a riot are dealt with similar to trolling/sock puppet. (40pts) In the case of Chaz it was discussed in the staff folder by the mods and admin before issuance.
So to answer your question, yes, the infraction system is a guide. But when situations do not fit easily in the guide or we we are unsure we consult each other.

Re: Moderator Feedback
Thanks for clearing it up. I was just confused (no surprise there)--because in the trolling and hateful content section both infractions get a 1 month vacation but carry different point values. And in the point total section there are even different times for the points.
I feel sorry for you mods--trying to keep all the infractions straight. But then you guys have the secret hand shake . I guess it would be easier if all us kiddies played nice together---but where would the fun in that be for you . We don't want to make your mod job too easy for ya.
