At a minimum, the guy should get to line up and amputate every weiner of every doctor involved in the screw up with a rusty butter knife. No anesthesia.

You just don't go chopping off firemans.

OMG! Did the article say he had cancer though and that was why they amputated?

What would you do if the doctor said you have two choices?

1. We do not amputate and you die. 100% chance of death from doing nothing.

2. We amputate and are certain the cancer is gone.

That's the whole point, nobody woke him up to even ask him. They just lopped it off.

Seriously, to amputate, for ANY reason without doing a biopsy at least, and without consulting either the patient or family is seriously negligent.
