Pistol Upgrades
There is a lot of talk in the forum about upgrades. One going know about mags.
I am new to this is there any upgrades like man you got to do this. Or are we talking little tweaks. Give you and example I am into High end audio you can spend $1000's of dollars on a tweak and most people would not notice the difference. Are guns like this our are there certain ones that make a big difference and worth doing. I have a Kimber Gold Match II 1911 45 and a Beretta 92FS both Guns are new.
Thanks in advance for the advice.

Let the mission dictate the equipment.

Re: Pistol Upgrades
If it functions fine, then no need to mess with it. I personally change the sights on almost all my guns. I often change the grips on my revolvers or add grip tape to my glocks. Factory mags are always best IMO except for 1911's... Wilson mags are great. Only make cosmetic changes if you feel that they aren't going to make a gun less reliable.
I think what he meant is that only change what you need to in order to enhance the shootability and don't do anything to hurt the reliability of your gun if it's a defensive piece.

Re: Pistol Upgrades
Tweaks are good if you are having a problem. A lot of the people on this forum are "firearm technicians". I'm totally amazed at some of the advice I have been given here.
Do not "tweak" your firearm(s) if they are functioning properly.
If you have issues post what those issues are and I can almost guarantee you several people will offer some sound advice.
Again, there are some real technicians here. That's what this forum is about.~ Luke... Come to the dark side... We have cookies! ~

Re: Pistol Upgrades
The only thing I would recommend would be better mags for the 1911 (wilson, mccormick, tripp research) and a lot of ammo. Shoot the guns find out what you like and don't like and go from there.

Re: Pistol Upgrades
Translation: Upgrades/tweaks/etc should be made only insofar as they support your intended use of the gun. For example, if you buy a rifle, why put a scope on it that will let you target something 12 miles away if you're only going to use it at the 25 yard indoor range? Similarly, why put night sights on that 92FS if you're only going to use it at outdoor ranges in clear skies (and visibility unrestricted!) weather? Why have a trigger job done to it if you like the trigger just fine and you're not going to shoot competitively? Why go out and buy match grade ammo just to plink? Yes, you CAN do go do this stuff if you choose, but SHOULD you? Probably not, you'll be wasting money. It's your money to waste of course, so do as you will.
Your mission is your intended use. It's the answer to "why did you buy this?". If your mission dictates that upgrades are called for, by all means, spend away. If it doesn't, consider leaving things stock or close to stock.
Does this clarify things a little? I mean that genuinely. If it doesn't, ask away and I'll try to explain better/differently.
