Default I think I'd like to move . . . but to where?

I've done a lot of thinking lately and I think I would like to move to another part of the country. I want to go somewhere where the weather is decent all year (no supper hot summers and no frigid winters). Ya know, motorcycle riding weather year-round. I grew up in Boston, but I would never move back. Terribly restrictive gun laws and COLD winters!

Anyway, I don't know where would meet this criteria. Aw hell, here's my list, anywhere match this?

    1. Weather, as stated above.
    2. Gun-friendly! OC included.
    3. Good deer hunting & bass fishing.
    4. Beautiful scenery

In my line of work, I can find a good job anywhere, so work isn't an issue. It's not that I hate PA, but I just feel like I need a change.

Aren't the summers pretty scorching down there?

Maybe Virginia? (Like more of the interior of the state than the DC part of the state.) Not sure about the hunting, but there sure is some nice scenery in the Shenandoah Valley. I'm pretty sure they're open carry, at least if this breathless article from the Wash Post is still accurate.

Well, it's not perfect, it gets hot but not 'oppressively' hot, you gotta deal with the sand gnats and the love bugs, but last year I think I rode from February through November comfortably. For what you said you're looking for it might fit the bill.

Hawaii would be awesome but their carry laws suck.

Hmm. As someone born in the south, I have to say: spend a week down there in August before you commit to moving anywhere south of Raleigh if 'oppressive heat' is an issue for you.

+1. Prescott, AZ meets your requirements. Actually, any of the four corner states. CO, AZ, NM and UT. All have regions that have great weather, wide open spaces, cheap land and good hunting. If you can find a job outside the cities, you can' lose. You can be snow skiing one weekend, and water skiing the next. PM Autonomous and get some info from him. He's in Sante Fe now, which is my favorite city in the country.

ETA: I've lived in Chicago Il, Charlottesville VA, Cocoa Beach FL, San Jose CA, Albuquerque NM, Pittsfield MA and Buffalo to NYC with many places in between in NY, and after all that, I've settled in SEPA and plan to stay put in this state. Every state gets you in taxes one way or another, but PA is by far the cheapest state I've lived in. PA has a real summer, a real winter, great hunting, fishing, tolerable (if often ill enforced) gun laws. The only other place I'd consider is Utah if I could find one of those places where they let me have a dozen or so teenage wives.

NM sucks more or less. I lived there for a little while several years back. Colorado is beautiful but it snows (in one form or another) west of Denver in the middle of summer. AZ is nice, but get down by Phoenix or Tuscon and it's 114 degrees and up in the summer months. Wyoming, I'd so live there if it wern't for the winters...its either 4th of July or winter it seems. Oklahoma and Virginia are ok too, still a little winter and not horriable in the summer...anyway I could give opinions on most of the states, but weather wise, hope I helped out a little.
