Default Let's Help Out Vermont! - Contact List for all VT Senators

The Vermont house has passed a sweeping gun control bill and is off to the Senate

    http://digital.vpr.net/post/gun-cont...use-now-senate

House of Representatives has given final approval to a slate of new gun restrictions.

The debate on the controversial legislation, called S.55, lasted until nearly 9 p.m. on Tuesday. But the lengthy back and forth did little to change minds — in the end, the outcome of the vote was similar to a preliminary vote on the bill last week.

Supporters of the legislation, like Moretown Rep. Maxine Grad, say the bill is an important public safety measure.

“S.55 addresses school and community safety by ensuring guns remain in the hands of those who should have them,” Grad said Tuesday.

The bill would require background checks for private gun sales, and raise the legal age to purchase a gun to 21. It would also ban the sale or purchase of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds, though that provision was amended Tuesday to allow for 15-round magazines for handguns.

Lawmakers also amended the magazine provision to allow for the manufacture of high-capacity magazines, in an attempt to protect jobs at Century Arms, a gun manufacturer in Franklin County.

Berlin Rep. Patti Lewis says the new restrictions on gun ownership infringe on the constitutional rights of law-abiding Vermonters.

“Vermont does not have a gun problem. S.55 is a perceived solution to a perceived problem,” Lewis said.

The legislation passed by an 89-to-54 margin in the House. The Vermont Senate is expected to hold a vote on the bill later this week.
I put together a simple copy/paste email list for all Vermont senators - tell them to oppose S.55! - Remember proper email etiquette and send the email to yourself and paste this list onto the Bcc line!

Also does anyone have a current list of all PA legislators that we can send a mass email to? Emailed my senator and rep today but wanted to contact everyone else as well.

Bump. Senate voting today. Yes it's not our state but we can't let these ideals spread. PA's demographics aren't far off from Vermont (liberal influx trying to control politics).

A little disappointed no one replied here with a "done" or "email sent".

I patronize Vermont with travel and I have a stake in what happens there.

We can try hitting them, but does anyone think that they pay attention to out of state input?

If they don't we need to make them, they are systematically trying to change our rights with every little push. VA had a change of heart when they realized how much tourism they would lose. Maybe that's the way to hit them in the pocket. Make them understand that of all places Vermont would sorely suffer from restrictions as several firearm loving folks travel to and through there regularly.

In 10 years they'll have headlines saying Vermont has low crime because of gun control, straight out of the 1984 playbook.

Vermont used to be a conservative stronghold many years ago but now it's a unicorn infested leftist hell hole because of Taxachussetts refugees. It's the same old story, leftists turn their town and states into leftist toilets and those that profited by it flee to another location to do the same thing over and over again. The whole thing is to not let leftist move into your neighborhood. Signs at the border of town should read "democrats, enjoy visit".

"Magazines with 10 rounds rather than 30 could provide more time for victims to find safety or take down a shooter.

"That pause gives students and teachers precious seconds to further protect themselves," said Sen. Alison Clarkson, D-Windsor County."

The derp is strong with them.

Fun fact, the Parkland shooter used 10 round mags because 30 round mags wouldn't fit in his bag. If anything, this sort of arbitrary ban enables them to conceal them easier or fit more into their bags, while hamstringing innocent people.
