To hell with +1. +2 is where it's at...

I never do. Insert mag in empty gun, rack it, engage safety and stick it on my hip.

I see no logical reason to not carry +1. Having one in the chamber and a fully loaded mag is a must in my book. I also carry at least one fully loaded spare mag. If I carry a backup, I have a spare mag for that, too.

If I have to defend myself, I want to make sure that I have every advantage I can. I have to assume the person or persons wishing to do me harm will do likewise.

This thread was before my time, so I'll answer the question.

    I carry my CCW, alone.

One reason is if you have to Load and unload Often.

That said, make sure you keep track of that. I learned from the reloaders
On this forum that repeatedly chambering a round cause the bullet to be shoved farther back in the casing. Thus increase risk of a misfeed or some other problem.

They demonstrated it with measurements, but when I examined the rounds in my gun I could see it with my naked eye. I eliminated my habit of frequent unloading.

Easy fix - don't do that. All of my carry guns are loaded and stay that way on or off my belt. Only time they're not is when I take them to the range and shoot them.

Just shoot through your carry ammo every couple of months and reload the magazine with all fresh ammo.

$25 vernier, check OALs. Chamber the #1 by sliding it in by hand, and release the slide into battery. Never had a round shorten up.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.
