10 in the mag, 1 in the pipe, and two spare 10 round mags on most days. I'll usually have one spare on my person, and one somewhere in my car.

When I carry M&P 9mm (17rd mag), I don't +1.

When I carry my MK9 (6rd mag), I do.

guess it can depend on the auto, but I was always under the impression that dropping the slide on a round placed in the chamber was a nono.

Agreed, I've also heard this is a no-no.

so, it is a better idea with many guns to insert a magazine witht he slide locked back, drop the slide to strip a round off the mag, drop the mag, put another round in it, and then reinsert the full mag.

FWIW, this is what I've always heard is the best procedure, and what I do to carry +1 in the chamber.

So you're saying that you usually DON'T carry a full mag then, correct (is the M&P 9mm a 17-rd capacity magazine?)?
I think I understand what you're saying, but these 3 sentences don't add up (no pun intended). Are you asking if others chamber a round, and then top the mag off with 1 more (filling to mag capacity, while having a loaded chamber)?

Yeah what I meant was I insert full mag, then chamber 1 in to tube. then mag is not full.

Filler up OC or CC, I carry to full capasity, with extra mag close buy. and quoteing the great Larry Potterfield, Pres. of Midway USA. "and that's the way it is"
