    Default bolt action .22

What is a good bolt action .22? Which ones are easy to modify?

CZ452/453. No better bolt under $900.

CZ's cost $300 give or take on the model. They wipe the floor with everything up to $900.

I own a Kimber SVT it holds a 5 shot group at .375 to the tune of $1700.00. My dad bought a savage heavy barrel with accutrigger and junk scope new at Dick's for $210 it shoots better than my Kimber, 5 shots under .375. Go figure.

I got my Savage at Wal-Mart for a whopping $110... Other than needing a new scope, it shoots great... lol

I agree with the favorable assessment of the CZ line. The Bang:Buck ratio is quite favorable.
As cost seems a primary concern ranking alongside quality, I'd also like to add the following:

    A. There's nothing wrong with an old Marlin 25.
    B. Never underestimate a bolt-action Norinco .

Check www.rimfirecentral.com while you're at it.
This sort of question is their bread and butter.

A good used Winchester 67A would fall under 300 bucks as well. They shoot like a house on fire.

My wife has a Remington 581 I think.
Awesome little gun, if you can dig up a used remington - I highly recommend it, and it will be well under 300 bucks.
Those savage guns are walmart are GREAT too, and 110 bucks - how can you go wrong?
