Positive Experience @ TSS in Avondale
I finally got down to the range at TSS (Target Shooters Solutions)in Avondale last week. You have to watch a 10 minute safety video and sign the waiver before you use the range. You can do all that from their website before you show up. I did it at home and saved the signed PDF waiver to my phone.
I went on a weekday and it wasn't crowded at all and got a lane right away. Everyone there was very helpful. The lanes are all well kept and the target holder worked just as intended. I shot about 200 rounds out of my new Sig Sauer MK25 to break it in. Yes, you do need to break in a new gun and clean it and grease it too.You can bring your own ammo. The ammo they sell for the range is limited to 115gr Winchester white box but if you're just breaking in a firearm like I was that stuff is fine. The Sig would fire anything you put into it. I shot some 115gr FMJ White box, 115gr FMJ UMC and some 124gr Remington Golden Saber.
I went over to the gun store for a bit and they have quite a few firearms in their case window. Lots of accessories but their 9mm ammo is a bit lacking. I guess competing against online ammo distributors is pretty tough. It looked like they had plenty of other calibres though.
All in all TSS in Avondale is well lit, well taken care of and staffed by intelligent and polite people.Corruption is the default behavior of government officials. JPC

Re: Positive Experience @ TSS in Avondale
I just got done spending just over a grand on a new Sig off of Gunbroker. I checked prices all around the area on all the websites and every one around had my new gun at around $1079 plus 6% sales tax and 3% credit card fee. I got the gun shipped for $35, no credit card fee, no sales tax and $25 transfer/registration at a local guy near Embreeville called Freedom Tactical. http://www.freedomtactical.net/ Total cost to me for a brand new MK25 $1029.
According the TSS website their prices are about the same as all the other gun shops in the area. If I was going to buy from a local shop I'd buy from them or Chester County Outdoors according to the way I've been treated when I go to their shops. I had a limited supply of money to buy a new gun and did it the least expensive way I could. If I wanted a less expensive Tupperware gun I would have bought it from TSS.Corruption is the default behavior of government officials. JPC

Where exactly is the TSS in Avondale in relation to the PSP. Wouldn't mind a change from F.C.Outfitters. Always seem to get a lane with cold air blowing on the back of my neck. I see the same dude at the counter for months now and always get the "have you ever been here before". Even after pulling out my 5round coupon punch card time after time. In a few months I can get a senior membership for $125 for the year which will be nice. Wish CC Outdoors could manage a range behind the store. Looks like plenty of room but they may not own that space or need it for their on-line stuff.

At $424 with sales tax for a single membership I don't think I'll be having many experiences there other then the occasional $20 per session visit.

Re: Positive Experience @ TSS in Avondale
I took my girlfriend to TSS to rent some guns I don't own and see what she liked.
She enjoyed the experience more than she usually does when we shoot at other ranges.
The people were friendly and helpful, and the nonmember prices to rent and shoot were comparable to other indoor ranges.
They have a Barrett 50 cal for rent as a novelty item.
I would not hesitate to go again if my girlfriend asked. How can you have any cookies if you don't drink your milk?

I have been there a couple of times with my son, although I did not actually shoot there, he did. He goes with some of his buddies from high school occasionally. Friendly, helpful staff who does not browbeat customers in the name of "safety" (not the case everywhere). Last time I checked, they allow you to bring your own ammo. Most places make you buy theirs. Gun prices are about the same as anywhere else, but I would buy there if I was buying a new gun simply to support a local business. Hoping it stays open - convenient location for us and great staff!
