    Default Old SIG 220 .45 ACP

    I just put some money on a Sig 220 in .45 ACP. Ser. # G 243***. It comes with box and five factory mags. $500.00. I think that I did pretty good on the deal. It shows holster wear on the slide. Everything looks original. Is this an 80's gun? The extractor is inside of the slide.

    What cna you tell me?

    Thx!

    Look under the front of the slide. You'll see two letters.

    A = 0
    B = 1
    C = 2
    D = 3
    E = 4
    F = 5
    G = 6
    H = 7
    J = 8
    K = 9

    So "JK" would be 1989.
    My guess with your serial number being G243 it will be a 1993 (KD) or 1994 (KE).

    Congrats on one of the finest Sigs ever made. At $500 you did very well with getting 3 extra mags. Hopefully it is the original box.
    Please be sure to post some pictures!

    A sig 220 with 3 mags and a box for 500 is a great deal. Good find brother.

    Thanks to all of you!

    I will take a look on the bottom of the slide the next time that I go into the shop. I'm doing a stealth buy here. You know; the kind of buy that you pay one or two hundred dollars at a time to keep things off of the wife's radar. God only knows that I don't need this pistol, but it was too good to pass up!

    One more question. The slide is stamped, "Made in West Germany", but it is also stamped KF. It looks like I have a '90's gun, but I kind of hope that is is from the '80's. What do you think?

    Scud,

    You have acquired one of the premier .45 acp pistols for a very good price. Congratulations. I know you will enjoy shooting it. As 1blindref indicated, your pistol was made in '95.

    Thanks. I was just hoping to bring back something from the '80's. I'll just have to take solice in my collection of pre-bans.
