Bad choice of words for this forum "assault" & "weapon" .
How about "defensive rifle" or "zombie eradicator"

lol this is gonna get dirty in a hurry I am sure.

    My personal favorite: AK-47
The humble and the meek have relied on it for protection and the strong and power wielding have relied on it to gain power over the meek - all at the same time.
It has helped to free nations in the hands of the people, it has also imprisoned others under it's hail of fire.
It has been proven in battles and military conflicts since it's invention.
It always goes bang, it rarely if ever complains and is built to be a stone cold killer.
Countries in the world have it on their currency and even their flag.
It's reputation precedes it (as well as misconceptions about it) "so and so was busted and when they searched his house they seized X number of guns including an AK-47" or the classic footage of any ski masked terrorist or militant group holding it in the air shooting it. Even with that sort of media attention, you have to respect what it has done throughout history.
The inventor! Everyone loves an underdog and Kalashnikov certainly was that.
It's got the history behind it, it's got the ruggedness behind it, it's got the reliability behind it - it has a great spot in the history of the world.

Rep coming your way!!! The rifle is infallible, accurate enough to get the job done. It will work in the deserts of Iraq the disgustingly humid jungles around Vietnam. There is no theater in the world that this to harsh for this rifle.

My favorite recreational semi auto firearm is the AK.

    It's fun to shoot.
    It's cheap to shoot.
The anti gunners absolutely hate it.

And I like the way it looks.

A womans favorite/best assault weapon of course is her MOUTH!
    And all men know why!

As far as I know there are no such things as "assault weapons". Well at least not in the firearm sense.

How about if I swap out assault weapon with GO TO HIGH CAPACITY SEMI/FULL AUTO MODERN BATTLE RIFLE? I think that this is more accurate. What is your favorite Go To Long Arm? .......*That you own?

Well I have never fired any of the new generations of ARs BUT I did 'do time' in the army with the worst POS M-16 you could ever want. Now that being said my vote is an unequivocal YES for the AK-47. Never in my life have I seen a weapon that was so easy to use, amazingly easy to field strip, reliable as the day is long and it seems to get better the dirtier it gets!

Heck on future weapons last week they had the top 10 weapons of all time and the AK-47 came in at #7 BUT the host seriously questioned why it wasn't higher. He went on and on about it for 10 minutes.

Hands down 80% of the worlds armies agree, the AK-47 rules the roost and I agree.

Any opinions on the newer gerneration of weapons? Travor, SCAR, FS 2000, 556, XCR etc..?

I like the AK, but I think that some of the newer gen. weapons have something to offer. You still are hard pressed to beat the AK for the general assault rifle though.
