Default OAL - .45 ACP SWC 4.1 Clays

Just started to reload the other day, and got some basic information from others who reload... one thing I missed...

Looking for OAL information for the following load (Min / Max)

    .45 ACP
    4.1 Gr Clays
    SWC

Also... any idea on the FPS or Power Factor? assume a 5" 1911... Kimber TLE II

The only listings I have for 4.1 grs Clays is :

200 gr heads 1.220 - 1.275 Depends on bullet style (lead, hp, rn, wc, etc.)

    250 gr heads - 1.275.

    Both around 700 fps +/-

Get yourself 2 good manuals and read up on reloading.

Yea, that's the next thing on the list.

I have them at ~ 1.235 - 1.239 or so... seemed right on with some re-loads I shoot regularly (I was not re-loading them, only using as a comparison to the one's I created)

Thanks. they seem to feed well (hand cycled a few), fit in to the case gague like greased snot (smooth).

Next step is to fire a few and see how they operate... will load singles and validate their exiting the barrell before validating the next round

I seem to have a case (every now and then) that will go in to the Case Gague smooth (all the way in appropriately, same OAL as the others, etc)... but requires a slight touch to get it out... anything to be overly concerned about?

    Thanks!

Until you get a manual, you can check out Hodgdon's website and see what they recommend.

I use the 200 LSWC from better bullets. They are real good and Rodger told me to stay with an over all length of 1.248-1.255 for 45 acp. I keep them around 1.250 plus or minus .002.

I load clays at 4.0 or 4.2 grains

I also use bullseye, unique and titegroup.

I mostly stay with clays and it is fine.

Thanks Lou... also have Rogers bullets.

I upped them to that range after talking to roger, and upped the grains to 4.2.

Load a dummy round without powder or primer.

Start at 1.255 and hand cycle the rounds slowly. Work your way down until you cannot stall a round on the feedramp when slowly walking them in. Lock the dies, write it down and you're done.
