Thumbs up Re: Taurus 85 snubby .38 Special

Congrats. I too picked up a Tarus 85 recently. I like it alot. The only thing I did is replacethe grip with a Hogue. If you have big hands(like me), the Hogue gives your pinky someplace to hold on to.

If your gun is rated for +p,I would say use it. Buffalobore has some good loadings in .38+p. It's pricey but hot & accurate. Pratice with cheaper stuff & carry with good hot stuff.

I'm thinking that Taurus should fit in a holster made for a J frame. Get a quality holster & belt for carry.

PS I like the grip. A snubbie is a carry gun & a larger grip detracts from this. I carry a snub that I can't get my pinky on the grip.

Congrats! Nice rod. If you don't like the snappy kick of +p's, give WW Silvertip HPs a try. I believe that they still load these in a 110 gr. non +p.
    I like it in my S&W 442.

Not so, at least I don't think so. The holsters made for a J-frame wouldn't work with my 605. Off by just enough to make all those holsters useless.

Congrats on the purchase I have been carrying the Taurus 85 ultralight for two years now, I love it especially with my Fobus paddle holster, the combination is very light and comfortable to carry. I keep mine loaded with Federal 129 grain hydra-shok jhp +P rounds. I recommend the Fobus holster, it has good retention. I have asked several of my friends to try to remove the weapon from my Fobus holster (unloaded of course) wile I was wearing it and none could do so easily. And since there are no straps to deal with the draw is much faster if you practice with it.

Great Purchase! Although I do love my Taurus 85... I will be selling it soon to fund a small pocket gun purchase. (KelTec P32)

Here is my pimp gun... "Huggybear!"

I had one years ago. It was a good quality handgun. I sold it because I switched to bottom feeders.

Too heavy and big for some of the deep concealment carry I am going to need to do here in the future. also... I have my 9milly for bite! Not a huge bite, but big enough.

The Keltec 3AT is the same size and shoots a .380. Price is nearly the same as well. I'd go with the 3AT.

I have an older T85 (no lock). I put crimson trace grips on it. I'm not sure if i like them yet though.
