Re: Duty to Inform when stopped by police
Oh it gets better, police knew who it was by 2:30 in the afternoon after he was killed around 6am. She wasn't arrested for 6 weeks later. She really did claim that she thought she hit a telephone pole, even though there was damage to her car that indicates she hit a person. No one knows if she called the police in the afternoon or if they found her on their own.
Who hits something that hard along the road and doesn't stop to look at the damage? Apparently stupid teenage blondes.Rules are written in the stone,

Re: Duty to Inform when stopped by police
Our idiot local media doesn't even bother to ask why she wasn't charged with hit and run after they publish an article wit the headline "Amish man dies after teenager flees".
The extent of investigation our local news does any more is they get the police press release and barely re-write it for publishing.Rules are written in the stone,

all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Re: Duty to Inform when stopped by police
1. You didn*t ruffle my feathers. By saying I don*t have a lot of time for this, I meant stopping for extremely minor violations, looking for DUI*s. Not sure how you interpreted my response.
2. I am sure there is a lot of fishing. Some departments focus on DUI*s, other departments on criminals with guns.
3. Getting stopped for a light out is not really a courtesy advisement. It is a minor motor vehicle code violation. It can end with a simple warning to get it fixed. A citation for the violation. Or much more. I usually leave it up to the driver to decide.

Re: Duty to Inform when stopped by police
Good answer, good answer! I figured that for the most part, tickets for most everything are earned except that at least some po leecemen have their pet peeves, which most likely get ticketed. Something as simple as a brake or tail light out, might not even be known to the driver. But dish out a bowl of shit to the lawman, and you win BINGO!

Re: Duty to Inform when stopped by police
Mother Greer (a sergeant-instructor) in the Philly police academy (1961) gave sage opinion on how to accommodate a driver.
He said, "look, people, if you're giving a driver a ticket that's gonna cost him twenty bucks, allow him twenty bucks worth of abuse aimed at you. If and when he exceeds twenty dollars worth, then it becomes another matter".There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.
