Re: Duty to Inform when stopped by police
i wouldnt volunteer unless asked. If I was searched and found to be lying it could get dragged out. I sometimes have my somewhat autistic 8year old with me. If detained they sometimes try to keep you away from your kid until its determined your not a threat to anyone. This would in dact be very traumatic for my son who occasionally gets really wigged out by shit he doesnt understand.
Shall we say perhaps, that I would lie half the time and tell the truth half the time?
With the exception of traveling with my son, I'm not too concerned about it either way.

Re: Duty to Inform when stopped by police
Admittedly, this is a hot-button for me.
I simply would not answer that question. I'd say "Why would you ask me such a question? What does it have to do with the reason you stopped me? I have a valid license which I am willing to present."

Re: Duty to Inform when stopped by police
I have been stopped a few times- never asked.
If asked directly, incidental to a traffic stop, I would simply lie.
I have a feeling most cops are OK with citizen carry. Most, likely don't even ask to keep traffic encounters simple.
Ones that ask might very well have some kind of issue- and they get lied to.
I do not want some doughnut chugging flatfoot with a hard on for guns finger banging my 1911 on the roadside.
It's not against the law to lie to the cops; most of the time. You can bet they will lie to you in a heart beat if it suits their purpose.Crusader's local #556 South Central Asia chapter

Wow, fuck Ohio for that law and for any cop who would treat a person that way.
